Its not that they don't need another Big man. the problem is they got KP and it seems like the knicks plan to give him minutes to develop. If KP is the future why invest heavy into a PF this year in FA? If they get a rental worth a damn or in need of a long term contract like D. Lee that guy is going to want to play heavy minutes the whole season.. I doubt the knicks wanted Aldridge to only play Center on the knicks but with KP on the roster he would of saw minutes there eventually.

So at this point the knicks need to find a older PF (maybe somebody willing to take that cap room exception?) or just keep players like Amundson or Jason smith so KP has a buffer but not a guy trying to eat his minutes at PF. If KP develops rapidly then the PF situation takes care of itself.

I think you gotta let KP work with that second squad... be the first dude off the bench type of role.

And to me Jason Smith and Admundson are not starters. So yea my priority would be to bring in a strong PF who can start and also help KP develop.

Lopez is underrated, that blazers team went down hill after his injury.
With him on the floor Kristaps may be able to start at the four

For those worried about Krispys defense, the man is 7'1.25" w/out shoes so a legit 7 3 with shoes:damn:

He might weigh less than 200 lbs but his length will allow him to compensate.

FUKK IT IM EXCITED ABOUT THIS TEAM

Grant aka the correctional officer will lock nikkas up and dunk on em

3 and D afflalo gonna put up 17 a game

Career Year coming up for a revitalized melo. U know he has a lot of pent up anger after watching Lala get piped

Kristaps:blessed: will be a PROBLEM for opposing PFs in the triangle. 7'3...7'3:banderas:

Robin Lopez, rim protector in his prime, will put up 11 9 2 on 55% shooting.

Calderon, galloway, shved, early and about 8 mill to spend for another FA. maybe bring back that cac goon Jason Smith:yeshrug:

Haters:camby:
This team looks promising. And we didn't give out any crippling long term contracts.

About the best we could have done given the circumstances.

:childplease:

17 wins for Robin Lopez
and Aaron Affalo:flabbynsick:

Phil Jackson is a disgrace:heh:

And a blue chip prospect in Porzingis

Would we have been better off with 40 wins, losing in 5 in the first round, end up with a mid level pick and enter basketball purgatory with a bunch of future journeymen like the Celtics and Nets.

13 for R-Lo and 8 for Afflalo leaves us with a nice bit of space leftover to add one impact player. They're two guys on reasonable contracts as opposed to 90% of the signings this offseason, which I prefer too. This offseason is a low key strong one, no crazy moves and a solid core. I hope they find a taker for Calderon and make one more significant offer. Otherwise, gimme Beverly (our leftover cash) and Bass (MLE) then let's go to war with a team that has four good defensive G's and C's that protect all night.

Beverly/Grant
Afflalo/Galloway
Melo/Early
Bass/KP
Lopez/Aldrich

That team will compete and games will be close because the defense won't let teams run away.

I like the Bass signing a dude like that can play the position until Kristops is ready and than go to the bench with no issue....I noticed you don't have Calderon on the squad I think he has value as a veteran PG and 3pt shooter plus he doesn't turn the ball over...

ame do you all still have the MLE, LLE and any trade exceptions?if so you could still greatly improve the roster...

That was the plan with David west. Brandon Bass might be a good move. We got to see so far Phil hasn't made a bad move yet.

So in other words we got one more player coming :steviej:

edit: and you can't start Melo at the 4... he gets killed on D, and the wear on his body from banging with those bigger bodies always leads to him getting injured.

He should play the 4 at strategic points throughout the game but the Knicks need a solid frontcourt that allows Melo to play the 3. And yes I know he gets cooked at the 3 too but at least he stays healthier and thus more likely to give you 30 at the other end.

He actually plays better D at the 4 than at the 3. He doesn't have to have as much lateral quickness at the 4. I think a while ago somebody posted stats that showed melo actually plays pretty good post defense. It's his perimeter and help D that sucks
