Porzingis is your 4 moving forward, playing Melo at the 4 is a stop gap and you're not contending for anything with him playing the 4.
Porzingis will, in all likelihood, not be ready to contribute major minutes this year. You go small with melo this year, with both wes and afflalo starting, then incorporate porzingis into the starting lineup next year (assuming that he progresses along). If Afflalo has a good year, he will look to get a bigger deal elsewhere and the problem resolves itself. If he has a shyt year, you wont be relying on him going forward anyway.

Were not contending for anything in the near future anyway, but Wes wouldn't be a bad piece to have going forward.

Land a defensive center & rock with the rookies and Melo. Fill out the roster with competent pros

Should have been the plan all along

I want an Iverson type of plan. Build a defense heavy unit and let Melo drop 30 a night while the team holds opponents to low 90's which means they're in every game competitively.

*Deep Breath.

You know... it's all good. Ramp up pitch to R. Lopez & call Biyombo. Let's get this done.

If Biyombo signs...
I'm sorry @I.V. but I'm going full retard... then offer Wes Matthews 13mill and ask him to play sf.

Grant/Afflalo/Wes Matthews/Melo/Lopez
:snoop:

I don't know how much money I'm willing to gamble on a guy that just blew out his achilles. The list of players that have come all the way back from that is... short.

Robin Lopez is only 27.

I still like Beverly too.

Aldridge played center for a couple seasons in Portland, he hated it which is why they got Rolo to play next to him.

That's why the Suns went out and signed Chandler, cause they know having him (And Len) keeps Aldridge away from playing center.

Yeah plus --

We Had A Slim Chance With Him From The Jump

THIS. Marc Gasol and LaMarcus (who I don't even love) were never really options. They were pipe dreams, would have been cool if it came together, but ultimately unlikely.

How is this Melos faught, why in the world would they want him to play center?

:francis:

They can get a nice return from the Rockets, who would need to give up guys to get the salaries to match.

Jones, Donatas, Beverly, Dekker (Or KJ McDaniels) plus some picks for him would be a good start.

Plus Clint CLAPela :smugfavre:

A couple of things:

1) Since we're not going to win this year, that means you should be giving Porzingis all the minutes he can handle. Not trying to figure out ways to hold him back till next year. Let him play, and let him play through mistakes.

2) Looking to invest in an injured Wes Matthews (currently asking $15M per) is the exact opposite of what they have been doing this offseason so far.

3) Why are we reaching right now, and looking desperate... give it some time to breathe, damn.

Im not saying to reach. If the deal is reasonable, go for it. Its just an option. You can give Porzingis plenty of minutes off the bench in this scenario as well.

If this was a straight rebuild, then I would be fine with throwing him into the fire, but management seems to want to play both sides. If we're going to keep melo, might as well see what we can throw together for this year while also thinking long-term..
