When you brehs support tanking....what are you hoping for?

1) Players missing shots on purpose, not playing defense, pretending to be injured, and turning the ball over on purpose? (Wouldn't this affect future contract negotiations? Since it would seem like they suck as players?)

2) You want Derrick Fisher to make bad coaching decisions? Bad rotations? Bad play-calling? (Wouldn't this likely ruin Fishers future coaching career, if he shows incompetence?)

3) You want Phil Jackson to provide bad personnel? (Embarrass himself and the franchise for a year in an effort to throw the weight and future of the Knicks on the shoulders of an 18-20 year old rookie). Like Philly?

Tanking is easier in theory than in practice.

It takes collusion throughout the organization AND for grown men to sacrifice their career and reputations in order for a young kid to come in, take YOUR minutes, get mega-paid, and get all of the credit for franchise success.

Whose willing to make that sacrifice? The players? Fisher? I don't think so. That leaves Phil Jackson trying to sabotage the team through garbage personnel. Not sure if thats happening either.

If we lose, it won't be because of tanking. We just aren't good at this point. We are not losing on purpose.
:mjcry:

Self-interest makes tanking unlikely. Who's playing themselves out of a job?

I agree... I just don't think that point is 14 games into an 83 game season

but why not tank early for once? Like we all know next year is a reboot. Winning with a struggle roster doesn't do anything but make the reboot worse. Even if these guys played well its not like they will be back to build upon that next year. And even at 100% I doubt they would make it to the second round.

All Fisher has to do is keep spreading minutes around to the youth and the tank should happen naturally. It not like the knicks have depth (or even reliable starters)....because you know all their money is tied into 3 player and they've had two mid round 1st picks in 5 years....

If anyone asks its the knicks working on instituing the triangle.

shyt timmy, JR, and amare (at the 5) getting significant minutes is damn near tank worthy alone.

Trade whatever you can out.

Full tank mode is necessary this season. Melo already got paid, save yourself for next season. Get "injured" and let JR Smith be the "Star" until the trade deadline :scheme:

So...who are bringing in to act like the Washington Generals (and for this to be their last year getting paid in the NBA?)

lol @ bargnani...this clown is collecting checks & doesn't wanna be here. i called that several months ago. hopefully we can trade his expiring for something/someone of value, since we have a good amount of money coming off the books in the summer with amare & others.

or should we try to trade amare's contract to get at least a good first rounder, since alotta the big 2015 FAs look like they're staying put??

as long as fisher doesn't run Melo into the ground to get wins the more likely the knicks won't get wins. Literally Woodson had to run Melo into the ground to get the 9th seed in the East last year. I am still pretty sure JR is gone for expirings for cap reasons..... but this roster is already failing.

Barg is out the NBA, Amare might become a journey man like brand, JR is going to JR. The rest of the roster are journey men already.....

So Melo should pull a Steve Nash.....just sit out, collect his money, instead of developing his game even further and learning the triangle?

No Melo should play for less than 40 minutes like he is now. The worse (and I mean worse) thing that could happen is melo gets injured chasing a playoff spot with this team. Let the rest of these guys who are going to be FA put in work and try to earn a contract. Also let the teams youth Develop. Shump is coming around nicely because he is finally getting minutes, give Hardaway more minutes maybe he could learn to become a half decent defender.

Im still a little opposed to tanking and here's why.

If this was football, and we were guaranteed a pick based on our record then I'll be 100% on board for the tank job to land us a top 3 or 5 pick. But we know, the records do not matter in the nba, when was the last time the worst team in nba record wise got a top pick or even a top 3?

What concerns me is, if we do the tank job and end up with the 10th pick in the draft, to me the 10th pick is no different than the 14th or 15th pick if we make the playoffs as a 7th or 8th seed. Whats gonna happen when we throw this season away and we get no top prospect in the draft?

Then we threw away this yr for no reason, aint no guarantee that gasol is gonna want to come here or rondo or any other top free agent.

:wtf: The fukk does Melo need to "develop" his game for? Learn the triangle by watching tape...the team will be completely different next season anyway.
:leon:

So you are good with any professional staying at their current level? Without trying to get better at their craft? Melo has no capacity to get better? Rust won't be an issue?
