So much untapped potential still left in the HP universe. Stories that can still be told. It seems like Rowling is just now waking up to that.

Look at stuff like Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, and at how the their universes and lore have grown throughout the years through various forms of media(books, movies, games.etc).
Yea but you can also semi damage the brand if the movies suck.

Prequels aren't looking like a good idea after star wars and hobbit. Financially maybe but fanboys and critics weren't happy

There were already 4 books out when the first movie dropped
That's what I'm saying breh. The Lord of the Rings films dropped 40+ years after the books. I couldn't be bothered to care about the Harry Potter movies when I had more piff books to look forward too:manny: Imagine if Sorcerer's Stone was being filmed now. The movies did great regardless, but the nostalgia would be through the roof if they gave the books some time to breath.

Breh rewatching the Harry Potter movies and seeing how well done they were makes The Hobbit even more disappointing.

I still might have my wife cop me the 3rd movie just for completion purposes since it will be $5 on BF :francis:

I feel your pain.. Plenty of crap I buy becuase i gotta complete some shyt..

Hell I bought the entire series on 3D blu and 3D EE because I gotta complete some shyt.. havent watched them yet.. I saw 2 minutes on HBO and was like nevermind..

The problem with the Hobbit movies is Peter Jackson made then 3 movies... Shyt that Hobbit cartoon from the 70s is piff..
and PJ wasnt even attached to direct at first anyway so he was never into it.. he only jumped on board after del toro dropped out

I hear what you're saying but it was also an advancement of technology thing. Imagine if they would have tried to do it in the sixties it would have been awful

But the 70s cartoon was good... and then the 78 LOTR cartoon using real people was different but still good

How's my future son gonna watch 2 parts of a trilogy. I gotta let him finish it :francis:

I argued with a coworker today telling him i hated how they tried to make thorin aragorn and bilbo became a background character
So your future son will have to be subjected to 30 Harry potter films?

Harry potter :scust:

But it gave time for decades worth of children and teens to read the books, reread the books, and love the books. Which then creates hype once you find out a movie series is coming out. The last thing I cared about when it came to Harry Potter was a movie when we were just halfway through the series. I was hype for The Chronicles of Narnia, but it was trash (not sure if they even finished it). There is merit to taking advantage of fresh intellectual properties, but I think giving them time to gain generations of fans can be even more profitable. I love watching Game of Thrones, but I care more about the book series being completed.

They never finished the chronicles series. I kept reading for a few years that they were trying to finish it off tho.

Never got into those books. It was one of those ones we were forced to read in school and I finished the first one and barely read the one my group was assigned, the silver chair. I remember we did a group book report on that shyt and I was quiet as a church mouse until I did an advertisement for e.1999 eternal on cassette promising all your favorite joints like "1st of the month" and "budsmokers only" that shyt was one of the few Bart Simpson-esque moments I've ever had in school

From what I read they didn't make enough money and I guess in order to keep going they'd have to cut budget but then they couldn't find someone who could do it right on the proposed budget
