I am planning on starting the vanilla version of this game from the PS plus collection since it’s free, But i ultimately want to complete the royal version if I end up liking how the game starts out. How much time is enough to get a good sense of the vanilla version to see whether or not I will actually enjoy it and if it’s worth it to purchase P5 royal?

Do the first palace. Anywhere from 10-20 hours.

The good thing about Royal is that it takes most of the grind out of the game. That's why even though Royal has more stuff to do it is a lot faster to get through it.

Sure but I imagine that there’s still an inherent grind to the compendium

I’ve finally put a few hours into the vanilla version on the PS Plus collection. This is my first Persona, and it starts off VERY slowly which sounds like how most persona games start out but I think it’s finally about to get good. I’m at the first castle. Think I’m going to stop playing the vanilla and try to get royal soon so I don’t have to do too much over again. Wish I had gotten it at a GameStop near me for $25 yesterday, and now the price went back up to $60 today. I can definitely see this getting pretty good.

Thanks. In general I go physical but lately with all this PS plus collection it has been really convenient to just start games without having to get up and put in a new disc so I might just cop from there.

Playing this game on merciless as the first play through is a trip

The fact that Baton Pass is unlocked immediately is awesome. And ammo reloading after every fight is great too

disaster shadows is a cool new feature

Yeah. The extra weaknesses and technical damages work both ways.

merciless on 1st playthrough makes it hard as hell to get new personas. they just die with the first weakness or technical hit

Baton unlocked, and guns reload automatically which is nice....however. Enemies will exposed your weakness, and it does take a shyt ton. You will die if your weakness gets hit. Also anyone saying its easy, have already played it once and know the weakness of everything, which again, makes it "easy".

I got to go back, and get the platinum. I'm like 5 trophies away but i need to speed run a new game+. I'm a playthrough the bonus semester because i missed the social link for it my original playthrough.
