Facts.

Them trades will have you working dumb hours and even taking your Saturday away.

Some people are idiots, though. I think some will take pride at dying on the job like it's some badge of honor.

These muthafukkaz at my job get made when they aren't offered to work on a holiday. Just slaves to money.

I’ve worked in govt and in corporate America for 20 years. I just applied to the sheet metal union. Hoping to hear back soon.

Both college and trades are needed, and both pay well.

With college, you need to leave with an actual skill/profession. Otherwise you probably won’t be making bank.

Our grand parents and parents worked these labor jobs in the hope that their kids one day could get a nice cushy white collar job.

If a trade is your best option go for it. but understand its not aiming for the top. College grads are the most successful group of people in the world on average,

Having a cushy job isn’t everything. We should strive to do work that’s in demand, has a high barrier of entry and can’t easily be outsourced. A lot of these cushy jobs are gone. They can get someone in India to do it for a fraction of what they’ll pay an American.

Depends on what you are going to college for. A lot of hs guidance counselors push kids into college just for the sake of going. You end up with a ton of folks with degrees saturating the market devaluing degrees. Unless it's in engineering. Colleges know 'going just to go' is cool with the masses so they upped their fees(a modern college fee schedule is jokes...and they are all online) knowing kids would use up grants(if they are smart) or loans(if they are desperate or loony) just to 'get that piece of paper'. Like I said if it's a worthy degree(if I could go back I'd major in Math....stands out and damn near fits into anything...and if you got a degree in Math you are a problem solving giant!) then it's all good.

It's not a coincidence that Asians have the highest incomes and the most education.

And were still debating trades vs college
You do know there are more Asians in trades these days
Hispanics and others are making a killing with their own businesses or only operate and help each other in the trade game
You gump nikkas are shortsighted and dumb smart
You want all black enclaves but paying nonblacks to replace your driveway
Remodeling your bathroom, kitchens
Replacing your roofs if damaged
Plumbing
Quoting the value of your home
Fixing your cars
Again y’all ain’t problack with dumb smart takes like this
How you problack but gladly giving your money away for services to people that don’t look like you
Yep keep pushing computer desk culture

As a former tradesman(Steamfitter/HVAC/Plumbing) I'll say just like with college, you should definitely have a plan.. Also, I wouldn't do construction longer than 10yrs.. The wear and tear on your body is real.. A lot of the guys I was in with only did it because they were on a waiting list for police officer or firefighter.. I definitely think black people turning their nose up at blue collar jobs is a huge mistake.. Black people need equal representation in blue and white collar jobs.. Didn't matter the age but every laboror I ever met was crazy and strong as fukk lol.

Good to have both imo
I gotta bacholar degree in Social Sciences
And just completed entry level electrical and solar installation.

My uncle put me on to the solar industry and I took up electrics because you can't sign off any solar installations with out an electrician.

Got my first ticket last year for working at heights
I was the only female up there though so it was a challenge..
💪🏾

Oh yeah?

Nice one:ehh:
