Man, you gotta be on your knees all day :dame: squatting in front of a furnace or condensers. Crawling through crawl spaces or cramped in attics. Even with knee pads my knees were going south and I was in my early 20’s. Add in those big ass boots that suck for you and carrying a heavy tool bag and it’s a wrap.
I thought about HVAC, specifically to start a business in Belize installing split A/C systems. Those seem easy enough and Belize is slowly getting money to where people want AC. My Dad has AC in his house along with my uncles and Aunts.

The demand isn’t high but I thought about being the one. What are your thoughts on split A/C installations?

Life is either a physical grind or a mental grind :yeshrug: but at the end, you still gon die

Facts
Im in logistics now. I’d consider warehousing as blue collar although not a “trade”. There are certifications I can get and would actually be wise. I’m in the in between right now. I have 20 years but no degree nor cert. my job now is too easy, but I’m in the contracting world so this isn’t real.

I’m getting an interview stateside as an analyst for my company. Making the same money minus the per diem.
:leon:
I didn’t think it would be easy finding a job making 100k+ stateside. I might fall into something that’s an actual desk job/hybrid.
:blessed:
Logistics can be a great career field for young brothas with drive. There’s many different opportunities from purchasing to warehousing to transportation.
:ehh:
I’d ride it out for the next 20 years unless I can get a govt job. I applied to be a post office inspector as well. They start at GS10 I believe. I would ride that to retirement. They say it’s hard to get into though.

Which trade are you talking about?

As someone who's been in the Construction industry this isn't true in the least bit. No trades, union trades, are working a hair over 40 hours. If they do, it's double time.

The barrier of entry isn't low. It requires 2 years of schooling and then another 4 years to become a journeyman. That's 6 years.
I don’t know why folks think trades is some sort of cheat code. You STILL have to go to school. They’ve been recruiting for trades at the plant for a few years now, and the reason why they’re still looking for people is the fact that they have to go to school. The average line worker doesn’t have the discipline let alone the intelligence to go through all of that schooling. I’ve seen so many people enroll and be like “I’m gonna be in trades :youngsabo:“ to dropping out a few months later like :hubie:

Those systems are awesome and super easy to install. Can look up a YouTube video and just follow along it’s so easy. Whole lot cheaper than a traditional AC and easier to do repairs and maintenance on. I’d definitely go for it.
