So does this game, it’s called a health meter and consumables. Either way, the hook of arcade games was to make sure you expend your lives, and you have to eventually start over from scratch and try again.

This is based on that concept. What Housemarque is known for is their arcade style games. They’re basically taking that same concept of those arcade style games that rely on the concept of “starting over, but getting smarter” and applying it to a triple A game.

Housemarque declare "arcade is dead," ditch the genre
the hook of arcade games was getting you to pump more quarters in the machine. a lot of early arcade games were limited to what you could do with one quarter, but then they realized you could get more out of people if you let them continue where they left off by inserting more quarters

I get what you're saying, in that a lot of those old games had to be beat in one sitting (or leave it paused while you went to school, and come back to find your mom turned that shyt off :mjcry:). but IMO it was still different from a "rouge-like" game. that would be like Super Mario Bros if you only had one life

Try paying $83.99 for a Street Fighter game on Sega Genesis back in 93-94. Now figure in inflation. Games these days have way bigger budgets and don’t cost as much as games in the 16 bit era.

There’s a lot of people using the 70 dollar price tag thing as a way to promote gamepass, but gamepass only exist as it does because its mostly 3rd party and smaller indie titles.

I will be a true believer in gamepass if it manages to stay under 15 dollars a month and drops AAA/AAAA titles on the level of sony for a couple of years.

There’s a AAA Sony game on Gamepass right now

That should not be something to brag about. Sony got more 1st party games on your console than you do right now. :francis:
