I personally thought AOC would take the crown.
Jaiyapal will be speaker before AOC ever is. There won’t be any shift in politics until you take the money out and people can’t advertise their way to victory. It’s why there’s always a huge influx of cash.
The issue people have with Jeffries is that he is resistant to any progressive energy or challenge to incumbents. He was one of those people pissed at people AOC and Cori Bush existing and literally formed a group specifically to provide incumbents with money to fight off any challengers from the left. It’s literally called something like protecting our seats or incumbents or some shyt. They view progressives as a hostile force trying to take over their party and going against “the way things are done” and view Republicans as something they have to deal with. AOC isn’t wrong in that many centrists are way more hostile to the left than they are to Republicans. Biden set the tone to tamper a lot of that down and that’s why he’s been successful. He lets Bernie set the debate and then they move to the center from there. It makes all sides happier than they would be otherwise. Hakeem is going to have to chill out on that front. It would be unseemly for a leader to be that involved in the process.
