coming off Elden Ring this game is light to me on difficulty
I can only give my perspective but I think a lot of the difficulty comes from trying to play this like PoE 1 or a traditional ARPG when it plays vastly different. Reminds me a lot of No Rest for the Wicked(great game btw) which feels the same way. So that combined with a lot of people trying to experiment with builds/skills, learn the mechanics, and new systems have made the game harder initially. Also, I can't speak on SC but HCSFF feels even harder due to the amount of farming it takes to get decent upgrades.

No Rest for the Wicked has been my biggest disappointment of the year. Support has been almost non-existent the last 4 months. Runs terrible for a game that shouldn't be so hardware intensive. Tries to do too much and leans really hard into into delay attack patterns to such an obnoxious degree.

They'll tighten it up in 2 years, tho.

People complaining about difficulty need to understand that the dodge function isn't optional
Yeah I think this is best advice when it comes to this game. Each hit has significance and just thinking you can soak them up from even regular mobs will have you visiting town often.

Yeah I'm very surprised about the lack of update/news about this game but my understanding is that their publisher was recently sold so I expect that has a lot to do with it.

I think this is the problem. They designed the entire game around this, but brought over things from PoE1 that aren't conducive to this style of play, like lingering on-death effects or stacking degen pools. Dodge rolling is more important than traditional damage mitigation types too, like armor or evasion, and that makes those stats seem worthless, especially when white mobs can still chunk you if you mess up and miss a dodge. It seems they want a punishing Souls-like game but with mechanics that were designed to counter some of the PoE1 power creep that doesn't exist in PoE2, and that's just making things feel awful. The is very apparent in the ascendancy trials. I don't know what they were thinking making Sanctum and Ultimatum mandatory experiences.

I went to the options and took the upscale mode off the default nsr, and the game looks 100x better now, holy shyt. I was playing in some grainy trash settings this whole time. Now I take back when I said d4 looks better.

Yeah, they're going to have to rethink the ascendancy trials if they want to retain players. They're too punishing.

Its not even too punishing its just corny lol.

you can get hit like 8 or so times, then the boss has like a instant AOE that saps 120 honor. has no real tell. there goes 30 minutes of your life.

and the trial isn't the only issue. I never played poe1 so IDK if this was how it was in that one but this has to have the wackest crafting of any ARPG, just pure rng. which would be fine if the mats weren't so stingy.

I bet this game will look insanely different once EA is done because its a lot of shyt that needs fine tuning the more you play.

They removed all the currencies that made crafting somewhat deterministic along with the crafting bench.

Made it to maps/atlas in my ranger which surprisingly avoided the nerf hammer.

I’m still enjoying the hell out of it. We’ll see how I feel after doing some end game grinding
