People don't understand that the congregations want these pastors to live these big rich lifestyles and say its down to God blessing the pastor with riches, many church folk live vicariously through their pastors.

When people speak as if those churchgoers are innocent victims to the pastors greedy money grabbing ways, often its not true, they know exactly whats going on and support it actively or passively.

Its pastor worship.
All the bible verses about earthly living and riches being sinful are overlooked by a cultural belief that riches are a blessing and a pastor (or men of status) have a God given right to live like a king.

Its a pervasive cultural belief that is just a breeding ground for curruption and greed, you only have to look back in Africa to see how bad this stupid belief can manifest into widespread corruption
