First, parables and sayings exist in the Bible. But the Bible is largely historical.
Second, some Christians take historical events and historical people and call their existence/actions parables and allegories which is not always true. David did slay Goliath. Jonas did exist, but I doubt he was in a whale, (God overcomes the physical but God doesn't change the rules of nature)
Creation story comes from Mesoptamia, and Abraham crossed the Sinai Peninsula into Africa and brought the story with him.
Point to any passage in the Bible and we can debate the finer points.

Atheist think about religion more than believers.
theres nothing wrong with that, but it doesnt make your fairytale truebeing a "christian" is about repenting from immorality, loving your neighbors as yourself, blessing those who harm you, praying for you enemies, putting away all malice, not returning evil with evil, being honest, not committing adultery, not committing murder, giving to those in need and being a living example to those around you.

i just dont believe in the magic and games god was playin in the bible (which mysteriously stopped as soon as recording history got more accurate). and i dont believe theres someone answering prayers, shyt is beyond childish
these fools chalk up every W to god, but dont blame him when their 6 year old gets hit by a car
I just have a few questions...
What are your views on the creation story? How much of it is to be taking literal?
Do you think it was people of that time trying to make sense of their world, similar to other civilization's creation stories, or do you believe the creation story are actual historical events given to Moses by God?
Peace
Prayer works.
In the largest study of its kind, researchers found that having people pray for heart bypass surgery patients had no effect on their recovery. In fact, patients who knew they were being prayed for had a slightly higher rate of complications.
So if God answers your prayers, then it's you have gods favor and he's faithful, but if he doesn't answer your prayer, then believers just fall on the " God has something better" or "God knows what's best" excuse.
I believe there was a study done in a hospital of a group of patients who received prayer from a prayer group and a group of patients who didn't receive any prayer...
So the patients who knew they were being prayed for did even worse.
