Overrated NBA players (Past & Present)

A little bit, yes. Couldnt play any D at all, only averaged 18 ppg for his career (though some of that was dragged down by his later years), was never a top 10 player at any point in time in his career, and only made 3 All-NBA 3rd Teams throughout his career. Great player, clutch shooter, and amazing longetivity, but a little iffy on whether he belongs in the HOF

Kidd is def not overrated, but dont use this to prove he wasnt a poor shooter. He was a poor shooter.

This is the one problem I have with Kidd. Out of these guys, which would you rank him above:

- Magic Johnson
- Isiah Thomas
- Oscar Robertson
- John Stockton
- Bob Cousy
- Walt Frazier (who I think is truly underrated and forgotten throughout NBA history)
- Gary Payton


Kidd is unquestionably top 10. But I think it's a bit hard to place him in the top 5 when the guys above him have more complete overall games and career resumes. In that sense, he is overrated. I still love him as a player, but his poor shooting knocks him down a tier for me

I have to take Stockton out...he is the Peyton Manning of basketball

Reggie Miller is one player who was somewhat overrated in his career. He was clutch as shyt but he was not some all time player like some make him out to be. And taking away nothing from Karl Malone who was a monster but i still feel that he gets overrated too. He had Stockton and vice versa and the system and while you cant knock a player for who he plays with i still think he wouldnt have been the same player if he would have had control of a team like a Tim Duncan or a Charles Barkley in there prime. But still i think he's the third best power forward ever so i cant say he is but so overrated. And currently you can put Kyrie on that list as far as overrated. He is a scorer and exciting as hell but i just dont know if he gets the team concept sometimes and if he knows when he should lead and when he shoud fall back. He could become the modern day Marbury if he isnt careful.
