But the 1930s famines in the USSR was not genocidal. Famines occurred in Soviet Kazakhstan, North Caucasus, the Volga Region, the Urals, and Siberia.

Also, the Soviets organized aid relief efforts in Ukraine once news reached Moscow.

The Soviet leadership, many of whom were ethnic Ukrainians, had nothing to gain by deliberately starving one of their most productive constituent states.

And this is the main issue with Russia, they claim they invade other countries because of NATO, but the only reason those countries join nato is because Russia has a history of invading their neighbors.
