Over a decade later, why aren't the 2000s romanticized like the 90s were?

Give it time. the 00s kids are not approaching their 30s yet.

nah, you can’t romanticize a period when it can be brought up digitally at any point in time.

There was a period of time in the 2000s that there was a real effort to bring back the 80s and 90s. Literally everyone was trying to grab the shyt they grew up with back then and make it perpetual. This is one of the reasons why the early 2000s was a retread.

Every nikka had Kazaa and Limewire specifically to bring back childhood memories.

You don’t have, or need that now.

Niqqa what?!

The 90s is not "romanticized". The 90s is the peak of the Human Empire so far.

The 2000s .. is not the top decade for ANYTHING

All the brilliance of the 90s was turned to shyt in the new millennium. Culture and society are slowly recovering, but Pop has totally lost its soul. Pop music. Pop comedy. Pop TV. Pop movies. Pop shyt was always less soulful than true art, but Pop used to start with real talent then water it down. Nowadays they start with completely empty calories and try to dress it up to make the taste tolerable.

The 90s was the best decade so far in all of history. May never be topped

2000s wasnt the 90s but it was pretty good until 05/06 then slowly picked back up as recession went along.

I have some GREAT memories even after 05/06.

In general, the 90s are considered the Golden Age of American entertainment and fashion, everything from movies, music, sports, clothing, etc is considered the greatest period ever.

The 00s was a watered-down version of the 90s and gave birth to the 2010s which is arguably one of the worst decades ever. Yes the 00s has it's moments but it fell off during the middle of that era.
Yep after 2005 the 00s was straight garbage. The late 00s had some:whew:movies though

the decade had a darker feel from the 90's economic boom that had many Americans living good, the economy was much more seesawy cultivating in the great recessions, we fought two significant conflicts, the Bush Presidency was a disaster (asides from the aforementioned two wars who can ever forget the extreme disaster that was Katrina) and frankly much of pop culture became even more over commercialized in this era.

the 2000s were the decade where it became easy to live online.

9/11 fukked the mood up for years and years on end, so there's a lot of stuff we just can't do or say anymore. The 90s was the last decade where being carefree was still possible. Now everyone's on edge.

That and who's in a hurry to embrace the cheesy aspects of the 2000s? Y'all looking back fondly on Von Dutch hats? Affliction tees? XXXXL white tees? Jamster ringtones? Velour tracksuits? Pants with NBA patches on them? Giga pets?

as millennials become older and long for some of the attributes of the aughts it's reputation will improve, historical nostalgia is very much a thing
