Outkast's records ring off different

no they dont.

i dont know why yall keep trying to force this narrative with no explanation.

outkast has a longer reach via crossing over into pop, and being more modern, but outside of that, they have dam near all the same fans.

whats ringing off different??

I’d rather see Tribe vs De La.

Unpopular opinion, Outkast was never really that good to me. They got classic songs like Elevators but shyt like Bombs Over Bag, Hey Ya, Fresh N Clean, The way you move, is whack as fukk, I used to hate hearing them songs as a kid. Electric Relaxation better than Outkast whole discography

i feel you on most of this, except the disrespect for "so fresh so clean".

and i'll add that SPCM is a classic.

Big fan of both but it’s a bad versuz imo...they’re too different..

that being said I like and relate to Tribe more but I feel like Kast would win the crowd

outkast is more modern but the industry has protected tribe's legacy in the same vein that wutang's legacy is protected.
people thinking tribe's music isnt recognizable, are just wrong. they have alot of songs in movies/tv shows/commercials all the time.
hell, i just seen some teenager walking around with a "low end theory" shirt the other day.

That doesn't necessarily mean anything man. A bunch of gen Z clothing stores sell 90's shirts. I've seen teenagers running around in Wu, Death Row, RUN DMC, Tribe, etc. shirts but couldn't name a single song. Outside of the Pac Death Row stuff, which was completely coincidental.

As far as the thread....

Nobody is tuning into a Versuz to hear "Hey Ya". C'mon now people. This is like the Rza/Primo thread all over again, when people said Primo would play the Limp Bizkit song because it was popular. :mjlol:

The fans that got into Outkast post-"Stankonia" are probably not even tuning into a Versuz, period. And the day 1 'kast fans like myself frankly don't give a fukk about "Hey Ya". So there's no reason to play it.

As far as the actual type of people that are interested in Versuz, this could go either way. But will probably end up like the Rza/Primo thing, where it's not a battle as much as an event for the fans.

TRUE... Andre himself has been over 'Hey Ya' for YEARS now. Why people think he's be pullin' that shyt out Verzuz of all things is beyond me.

Also, let's face it- these things are not actual battles anyway, so nobody's gettin' "washed". This one especially would be more along the "celebration" line- it'd be like the Patti/Gladys ep, where most of the audience would be fans of both and would be so busy enjoying the shyt, nobody's pullin' out the scorecards.

Tribe can absolutely hold their own against Kast. While Tribe never got as big as Kast, Kast didn’t reach that kinda level till Stankonia. Their first 3 albums are very much on the same level as Tribes. They have the exact same fan bases. Matter fact Tribes might be a little bigger with the 40 and over crowd.

This would be wild, and it would be closer than people think. The experimental stuff Kast started doing once they got to Speakerboxxx/TLB (and really, even on Stankonia, you could see them going that way) might not go over as well in this setting. I'm also biased though because ATCQ was a big part of my young childhood listening to hip-hop on the radio along with De La Soul and Arrested Development. I think they'd have a good shot at it.

Outkast has smash hits, impact and relecancy still seen today.

Tribe doesn't have the smash hits and are pretty much unknown or irrelevant to many rap fans past the late 90's.

This is Verzuz, not a message board battle. Tribe hits not ringing off the same outside of music nerds.
Tribe got straight up classics that can go toe to toe with Kast. Bonita Applebum. Scenario. Check The Rhime. Award Tour. Electric Relaxation. Just to name a few. What singles does Kast have on their first 3 albums fukking with that besides maybe Players Ball and Elevators? And post 2000 what singles does Kast have that would play well in a Versuz besides Ms Jackson, So Fresh So Clean and maybe the Way You Move. Album cuts about even between the two. Ain’t nobody trying to hear Hey Ya, Roses or no damn Prototype

I didn't hate the album, but LOVE MOVEMENT got a ton of hate when it was released. Now people don't even mention it, they'll talk about how BEATS RHYMES AND LIFE wasn't on the level of the first three and LM doesn't get mentioned at all.
I actually liked the Love Movement more than Beats Rhymes and Life. It seemed like they were having more fun. That was the thing about Tribe. Their first three were fun to listen to. Even the songs with serious subject matter. Plus they had developed a certain sound. When Beats Rhymes and Life dropped people hated on the Ummah becuz the sound was so different. Plus the album wasn’t really fun. The chemistry wasn’t there

People forget that Kast have two sets of fans. They have the day ones like I’m sure most of the people in here are, and the Stankonia and up fans. It’s going to be close for the people actually taking score but us fans would be vibing. It definitely won’t be. The same without Phife though :mjcry:

And the core Kast fans, are huge Tribe fans. Kast are lite-Tribe spinoffs, if we're being honest. I don't even think their hits would take them over though. I think their album cuts do. They don't have a Scenario, or Award Tour, my favorite Tribe (God Lives...), but the problem with Tribe is that after a while, a lot of their ish starts sounding redundant. Kast low key have songs that are just better.
