Okay, full disclosure -- I'm white and I used to live in a neighborhood where the majority of kids were black. I never told them this b/c I never wanted to sounds like a racist, but every black kid in on my street had the same peculiar smell. Not a bad smell -- just smelled like slightly burnt potatoes or something. And I could NEVER figure out what that smell was. Is that just the old-grease smell in their clothes?
EDIT -- and it was Haitian/Caribbean blacks too.

All located across from the gas station that gets robbed or where it's a shooting in the same block every other month. The shooting occurs every 2-3 weeks.
And only in the hood are these scenarios are accepted as "okay" and "normal"

2. Out of all the prostitutes, there's one that everybody happens to know (In my old hood it was Pinky, not the porn star).
3. You don't know if it's fire crackers or gunshots in late June
4. There's graffiti saying RIP [Insert nickname] on the side of a school, or one of those steel shyts you pull down to close/lock a store.
5. nikkas having cookouts in their small ass backyard where it's fly's and dogshyt.
6. There's a girl who keep having kids, and have back to back to back to back baby showers.
7. Walk past a high school and it smells like black and milds
8. Ten different cars drive past within an hour, and they're all playing the same fukking song (This summer it will be Fetty Wap's My Way)
9. Empty dime bags on the ground
10. The liquor store sells durags
11. In the summer, hoes with sloppy ass bodies walking around in their short shorts.
12. nikkas yell their conversation (no matter how incriminating, or embarrassing it is) like no one else can hear them.
13. Someone you know always asking if they look high.
