I went to school all over the MD.
Hate to say it but a lot of the times we get complacent when we are among ourselves.
The same behavior can be seen at HBCUS in the area.
I transferred from an HBCU in MD to a PWI and I never learned how to properly type a college research paper until I got to a PWI.
Despite the fact I went to all black schools and had all black teachers.
Being smarter than other black kids in black schools was easy but....... in some ways it didn't prepare me for the standardized tests, scenarios white people, Asians take and pass.
It really takes a concious effort to compete with other races.
Ex. I recently had an interview and I knew I didn't fit because the questions are not questions that a black dude (like myself) who was only socialized around black people would understand. All the black people that worked at that particular company were not raised in black areas.
Can't place the blame on the parents PG county officials who are black and the teachers who are black have failed to properly educate the students year after year.
There are many teachers who half ass work in PG county knowing damn well they will not do the same in whiter places like Howard or Montgomery Counties.
If a teacher is doing a half-ass job with your kid you as a parent are supposed to catch that. Do what's necessary. Tutor additionally or switch schools. Education will always be on both the school and parent. Either party not holding up their end leads to failure. The idea of sending kids off to school being enough involvement in education is a farce.I went to school all over the MD.

Come on fam you’re better than this. schools here in the Atlanta area in neighborhoods with large black populations have at least a 92-98% black faculty & staff
Yes as a parent you catch that but were talking about a whole school district. Everyone doesn't have the time or money to get a tutor thats why teachers are there to teach students.
Only about 2-3 high-schools in PG are halfway descent. So moving to another high-school isn't an option.
Unless you're saying moving to another county that has more white people which isn't an option for black people who want to live around black people.
So that is why I say teachers and county officials should be held accountable.

when I found out my wife was pregnant I started reading about what universally leads to "success" and "happiness" and was determined to do whatever it takes to giver her an advantage. Fast forward 6 years and she's in first grade but tested into 4th grade math and reading
