Like I said before, the whole 'educational' system needs to be restructured.
How so? Education is not meant to teach people how to be free, but rather produce citizens and workers. But keep on dwelling in an ideal world where that shyt is not possible or feasible.

Bu bu bu bu bu but Asian kids cheat on exams.Isn't that the mantra when these topics come up?

OP article is sad. Terrible parenting going on in that school district.
knowing how to cheat (test prep) is just one advantage that whites/asians have over poor black kids :yeshrug:. another advantage is an abundance of private tutors, including tutoring companies, in their communities.

there's no single explanation for why the % black students in maryland who meet state math proficiency standards is so low. we have to look at everything from nutrition to systematic racism in the school system. i'm sure the parents are trying their best.

When our educational rank isn't even in the top 10 there's a problem. These teachers nowadays can't relate to the kids.

Maybe I skimmed the article, but the stats aren't for the entire state...and I think PG county is included in the district they're talking about.
What financial advantage, as it related to education, would Asian or White kids have over Black children in a seemingly affluent area?

How is this even possible? Isn’t Maryland full of well educated black folks? No way they’re allowing their kids to screw up like this.

I’m from PG myself, the school system and math proficiency in my County is bad...Very bad.

I asked how you would remodel the whole system. fukk rankings as well, life isn't about competition. Teachers haven't been able to relate to students since integration, and I would say even before then students did not relate to the teachers of the 30's-40's.

Algebra is not making kids fail. The mindstate you gave with "dem numbas" comment is the fukked up mind state that keep kids from even trying to grasp the concept. School aint for me. Dumbest shyt ever.

You have to beat the game if you want to talk about changing it. No way I am trusting someone with less than 15 college credits to have a fair assessment about the education system, both higher ed and k12.

Most white and Chinese parents have their children's future already lined up for them because of their income. Blacks however have very low income compared to other races in America. When your financially stable, your goal is to make sure the children take over. That's one of the main priorities parents should have. I feel like many black families get mixed up on different priorities . If a group/team aren't on the same page, that's how they fall behind. If were going to say it starts at home, let's also take a look at the racial wage gap.

I would say that our 'educational' system needs teachers that are qualified and sorry to say, but our country competes when it comes to education. Countries boast about their students and ranking numbers. So, in some ways it is about that. When you have administrators that don't care you get horrid results. We are suppose to be a 'super power'.

Most scholars have found that when you control for income and wealth, white students still outperform their black peers. If you or anyone else reading this thread has the time, I would recommend giving this a quick read: https://www.brookings.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/01/9780815746096_chapter1.pdf.

There are countless explanations for why the test score gap persists even when you account for differences in income, schooling, and wealth, and some of them are very :mjpls: but that's a subject for another day.

Unless I’m mistaken, isn’t Maryland home to 8 of the top 10 wealthiest black communities in America?
Idk about statistics but to be a wealthy black household in this country means to bring in 80k... Nothing around here. Let's compare the numbers to national figures. Let's see if household income is a factor.

I'll leave the research to y'all :hhh:

I just got off from a mean double time shift

The education system achieved its goal and you just exemplified it. You subscribe to the hegemonic American white supremacist ideologies by suggesting this and actually believe that the benefits and rights and resources were fairly shared in the home of the brave.

Plenty of blame to go around. Government, admin, teachers, parents and the students themselves. Too much finger pointing and not enough accountability. Students don't gaf because there's no emphasis in learning at home. And teachers only teach their students to pass the standardize test not to retain the information for everyday life so kids come to school thinking whatever they learn is pointless. Admin only cares about test scores and the government only cares about producing workers. The eeducation system needs to be restructured as a whole.
