Can I hold these quotes until the next thread about impoverished communities and historically disenfranchised communities?
Your outlook on labor and the economy is identical to twism's outlook on education and social disadvantages.
*insert inherently line here*
What does race have to do with this?
Why is your ONLY option to raise wages of people to exorbitant scales???
We're talking $120 a day for ENTRY LEVEL WORK.
And yes, all wage levels must be increased...then what? It's all good for a little bit until the next round of people who can't by on the bottom need another bump.
This is the problem. YOU ARE
NOT SUPPOSED TO RELY SO HEAVILY ON MINIMUM WAGE. YOURE JUST NOT.
Stop making this out to be some attack on the poor. Scraping by isn't supposed to be the highlight of your life. The nation does better when people want to NOT stay in some jobs.
Hell, ask for industry specific wage minimum for things like agriculture or construction. Service jobs get less, etc.
Push for universal income.
Ask companies to pay their workers more.
Stop hijacking minimum wage as this single answer to all aspects of what people are owed.
If you're bagging groceries, you're not worth more that someone picking beans and corn or hammering nails.
Furthermore, you're getting paid so little because you're a new, unskilled laborer.
