I don't hate qbs, I hate the media and common folks obsession with what is simply another position out there.

That Giants D woke up in offs and whooped everyone's ass btw. That ranking doesn't so them any justice. They didn't allow the Falcons to score, then allowed two tds each to us and Packers, and then the Pats. That defense legit won them the bowl, just like in 2007.
These guys did a full analysis: Freakonomics » Does Defense Really Win Championships?

The ending is pretty funny in hindsight

49ers first need I think is to get O linemen. Then focus on the defense. Defense wins chips. We got a stud RB. shyt we have a few backs to be run heavy which can set up the pass. Blaine Gabbert is good enough if we concentrate on that. Besides no QB's in the draft IMO. The O lineman is an important pickup though. I do think Brown maybe a steal so far.

:dahell: when were we pass first the last time? are you sure you were watching the Niners breh?
when.... we for 4 years straight we were running 4-5 receiver sets and trying to be spread team

it might not have been 30 throws a game... but we wasn't bringing in 8 receivers a year for running the ball

why you think THIS year all the talk was going BACK to running the ball... why would you need to go back if that was already the plan

What the fukk are you talking about breh. We were one of the most conservative teams in the league under Harriman (and for a good reason too) . We led the league in 22 personnel by a huge margin.
Meaning, we were in one WR sets the most out of all teams in the league.

breh i just explained this... i did NOT mean they were passing all the time

i mean they were going for a #1 receiver so they could switch to passing... they never got him... while trying and spending time and money getting receivers every single damn year.... so it was obvious we were trying

then when they fired harbs... what did everyone in the FO say.... we want to GET BACK to running the ball and focusing on defense

why do you need to get the focus back to something you were already focused on :jbhmm:

People in here really advocating for a 1st Round / #1 WR when we don't even have a QB, much less a system/coach? :heh:

How many 1st round / WR1's did the Patriots, Seahawks, Ravens have in the last 3 SB wins? 0.

How many Super Bowl runs have Julio Jones, AJ Green, Calvin Johnson been a part of? 0.

Get a coach. Define a system. Acquire talent that fits said system.

1. nobody said 1st round

2. gronk is #1 wr who happens to play te

3. getting a coach will not stop us from getting a wr or a qb

4. no qb in this draft will make us give up kaep

5. lets bet on number 4

What kind of logic is this? We should draft best player available that fits our needs... Preferably oline but if there is a stud game-changing receiver out there then what's the problem?

Any Guard we want to get can be had in the 2nd round and after. Right now, the line looks like it'll be Staley-Tiller-Kilgore-*****-Brown. If AD comes back and kicks to guard, that's great. If not, we still have Brandon Thomas even though nobody knows what we have in him. Drafting a guard in the first round, I don't think, is the highest priority.

I'm firmly in the "We need to draft a #1 receiver" boat. We haven't had a true #1 receiver since T.O. Every year we bring in bargain basement receivers and try to find a diamond in the rough. What's that gotten us? We need to finally draft a #1 receiver. I doubt Boldin comes back next year.

If we're not going to go WR with the #1 pick, then we damn sure better go ILB.

TE is another concern, but remember we stashed Busta Anderson on IR.

We should be good at RB, but we'll still probably draft one or two.

QB is the tricky one, though. Depending on who the coach is, we may or may not draft a QB with our first pick.

nikkas mentioning the Patriots as an example of a team who wins without a star receiver, like they don't have a goat level QB, coach and system :mjlol:

The Seahawks don't have a star receiver but they have a great system and coaching.

I don't have any faith that Jed will get a top level coach who will develop a system that would get us to the promise land with Torrey smith as the #1 along with trash ass Bruce Ellington (worst kick returner in the league btw) and the ever reliable but old Anquan Bolden.

Looking into the draft I'm not that crazy about this years WR class. Assuming we don't use a draft pick, I'd rather we trade down a few spots and pick up the best OL available. I like that lummox from LSU, Alexander I think his name is.
