Any word on what he tested positive for?
nah. I remember he was clowning someone heavily for smoking weed before on twitter, so my guess is coke. but its really pure speculation on my part

Offensive Line

Tackles -

Joe Staley - Joe Staley is an elite left tackle and consistently among the best in the league. He's a vicious run blocker still but age has made him a less able pass blocker (albiet still one of the better ones in the league. He playes with heart, ferocity and technique, he's also a mentor for the younger guys. He's been on the team a decade and will likely retire a 49er (I hope).

Grade: A-

Erik Pears - Despite being amongst the worst starting tackles in the league, he retains his starting job. Now they say he'll be splitting snaps with Trent Brown, but if he remains somewhat serviceable, he'll probably be the starter for the sake of chemistry. I believe the rationale is, we'd be better off with a bad starter than a good backup. Also it's worth noting the change in guards towards the latter half of the season helped him look less terrible. If Trent Brown could stay out of the taco trucks, this guy would be on the bench.

Grade: C-

Trenton Brown - The heir apparent to the right tackle spot. He should be the unquestioned starter this year but he came back to this years mini-camp in 'poor condition'. This is not to say he put the weight back on as much as it is, Chip Kelly's offense is very fast paced and it may be a strain on a 6'8 345 lb frame. It's sad to see because, he's seems to be one of the most agile players on the team by most accounts, and his size makes him a nasty mismatch. I remember him mauling a Bronco's D-Lineman in preseason last year, and he's a better pass blocker than Anthony Davis ever was, but his fate, is tied to his weight.

Grade: C+

Fahn Cooper - A rookie from Ole Miss. He played well in college for a suspended Laremy Tunsil, which is the reason why he's drafted in the 5th round as opposed to an UDFA. He's a mauler type of tackle as he is a little short compared to the average tackle though he has long arms. Furthermore, he's not overly athletic and he'll need to work on his footwork, but he's most likely a career backup at best.

Grade: C-

John Theus - John Theus is the polar opposite of Fahn Cooper, more of a technician than a mauler, he has the opposite problem. He is a good pass blocker, but he really needs to hit the weightroom. He's pretty athletic, but he's going to get bullied by NFL defensive ends and he isn't good against the bullrush, or inside moves. But scouts have said he's a hard worker and a high character guy, so he'll definitely be in the mix for swing tackle. Not to mention he started at both right and left tackle at Georgia so he's pretty quick on the uptake.

Grade: C-

Ian Silberman - I expect him to get cut, he's been on the practice squad 2 years already and is no longer eligible, IIRC.

Grade: F

Norman Price - A camp body, nothing to see here.

Grade: F

Guards:

Zane Beadles - An underrated player. He was a really good guard when the Broncos drafted him. He then went to the Jaguars, where his play fell off of a cliff, though to some extent he was a gazelle on a line built for maulers, imo. He's a much better fit here, and for a more than reasonable contract. He's in the latter end of his prime but he's still a very solid pass blocker and a decent run blocker. He's won't light the world on fire but he won't shyt the bed, and he's durable and that's good enough for me.

Grade: B

Andrew Tiller - We picked him up in the middle of last year, and he showed he can be a competent guard in this league. I expect that he and Joshua Garnett will be fighting for the starting right guard role. He's a big burly guard, that can punch open holes in the run game, he's only a so-so pass blocker but he's still one of the better guards on the team and has years of experience while still being young. I expect he starts the season.

Grade: B-

Joshua Garnett - Our late first round pick. Critics say we reached for him, in part as a means of blocking him going to Seattle who had him high on their boards. I will be a batter between him and Tiller for the starting right guard spot. I say we by far picked out the best run blocking guard in the draft with experience in the zone blocking scheme. Josh is a good athlete and is capable of pulling and moving in space. I seem him as sort an Iupati like player. He's has to improve his pass blocking footwork though.

Grade: B-

Brandon Thomas - I had high hopes for him when he was drafted in the 3rd round in the 2014 draft. He has disappointed me. I expect him to be in the mix to be a starter but he lacks the strength to be a mauler and the athleticism to be a great pass blocker. He seems like he is content to be where is instead of improving to the point where he can threaten for a starting position. This mentality could have him fighting to not get cut.

Grade: C-

Alex Balducci - He played D-Line at Oregon and he's making the transition to offensive line as a guard/tackle. He's a practice squad guy though, imo.

Grade: F

Blake Muir - A 25 year old rookie. He has great size and strength but I don't know if he can transition into anything more than a practice squad guy or a cut.

Grade: F

Centers

Dan Kilgore - He'd be a top 5 Center in the league if he can stay healthy. He's improved his strength and he was always a good pass blocker and athletic enough at the 2nd level but he could never stay on the field. As such we've had to suffer with Marcus Martin.

Grade: B-

Marcus Martin - He has shown he has neither the will or desire to improve and I'm willing to eat the crow sandwich as I thought he's be a monster based on his play at USC. I'd cut him if I were Baalke but we have been so passive at finding centers that we're stuck with him for the sake of depth.

Grade: D

Unit Analysis: Clearly we have a very crowded contest for swing tackles. Even the starters are not set in stone. This is clearly a running theme, we have a lot of youth looking for snaps, outside of Staley and Pears. Baalke and Chip have their work cut out for them, figuring out the best offensive line to put on the field.

Unit Grade: C

I strongly disagree about Kilgore being a top 5 C in the league when hes healthy. hes very average to me. He does seem like Alex Mack next to Marcus Martin, but thats because the latter has looked like utter shyt.

I think he's a lot better than average, but again he's never healthy so its moot. This is a position we should have addressed in free agency/draft more aggressively.

OFFENSE

Quarterback (Blaine Gabbert): Engineered two fourth-quarter comebacks in 2015, one more than he did his entire time in Jacksonville.

Running back (Carlos Hyde): Averaged 4.1 yards a carry in his first two NFL seasons but is coming off a foot injury that forced him to miss nine games last season.

Receiver (Torrey Smith): Caught a career-low 33 passes in 2015 but led the NFL with 20.1 yards per catch.

Receiver (Bruce Ellington): Former fourth-round draft pick has 42 receptions in two NFL seasons.

Receiver (Quinton Patton): Played in 16 games for the first time in his career and finished third on the team with 30 receptions.

Tight end (Vance McDonald): Caught all three of his touchdowns in 2015 after Gabbert replaced Colin Kaepernick as the starting quarterback.

Left tackle (Joe Staley): Five-time Pro Bowl pick has not missed a game since 2010 and has started all 130 games in which he has played.

Left guard (Zane Beadles): Former Pro Bowl lineman signed a three-year, $9.75 million deal with the 49ers after being cut by Jacksonville.

Center (Daniel Kilgore): Finally seems to be past the leg injury that limited him to 10 games the past two seasons.

Right guard (Joshua Garnett): Second-round draft pick will have to beat out Brandon Thomas for the job.

Right tackle (Trent Brown): Hulking 355-pounder started final two games of 2015.
