Colin Kaepernick has four postseason wins.
Jason Campbell and Ty Detmer had zero.
In his lone Super Bowl appearance, Kaepernick became the only quarterback to pass for 300 yards and rush for 60 in the NFL’s biggest game.
In his lone Super Bowl appearance, Trent Dilfer passed for 153 yards and had zero rushing yards.
In 2013, Kaepernick became the fifth quarterback to have 3,000 passing yards, 20 TDs and 500 rushing yards while throwing fewer than 10 interceptions in a season.
In his career, Sage Rosenfels never had more than 1,700 passing yards, 15 TDs or 60 rushing yards in a season (but he did throw 12 interceptions once).
What’s the point of comparing Kaepernick to these other QBs? Well, the others were each traded for a fourth-round pick during their career.
That, of course, is the type of compensation the Broncos are reportedly willing to surrender for Kaepernick, which explains why a trade hasn’t been made.
The 49ers have placed a higher value on Kaepernick and recent quarterback-trade history suggests they are correct to do so. Yes, Kaepernick was demoted in 2015, but he also has more road playoff wins (3) than Joe Montana (1) and Steve Young (0) combined and owns three of the top five rushing performances by a quarterback in NFL postseason history.
That is, he has some notable accomplishments, certainly far more than Jeff Lewis and Billy Joe Hobert (they were traded for third-round picks).
