Difference is Alex had a cheap contract and was coming off a career year. Couple that with Andy loving him to death and giving a better offer than anyone else.
Kaep has 3 injuries and coming off the worst year of his career. Then there's his contract while team friendly, the yearly salary is a lot to pay for a guy who has fallen off the planet....so I get teams wanting him to restructure.

Well if Kaep thinks like you do, he better be prepared to stay then. You can't have your cake (get a trade) and eat it too (keep the contract). I mean, you can, but not likely

Funny thing is, if there was a competition, i`m fairly certain Gabbert would win that.
He's the better passer of the two, it's pretty evident when you watched both play last year

Kaep has gotten progressively worse, Smith was on an upswing.
He's a shytty QB whose gotten worse every year with a high salary number, what do you expect to get for the guy

You don't judge players by four seasons ago, and look at Smith he has maintained his level of play and exceeded it in the following years.
He was trending up, Kaep is trending down.
People get too worked up over sizzling highlight reels from years ago, spectacular for a season don't mean much when it's 5 years later
I think the way he's looking at it is he helped the team now he needs to help himself. Regardless i don't think this whole situation was handled properly at all. Both sides.

Both sides have fukked this up at this point. I think teams like Kaeps talent but the problem is he and his people can't keep their mouths shut, and for as talented as he is, Hue Jackson is looking for as few distractions as possible. If Kaep his smart, he'd be wise to just take the paycheck and play to the best of your ability because any team he goes to is going to want to restructure his contract.

Can't release a player that is injured though. I think Kaep wants to be released too. Still think the 9ers bungled this more than anyone. Terrible asset management.
Kaep has a bad rep at this point, look at his own team mates who said as much.
He is is no power position, but he wants to believe he is. There is no one out there tryna break the bank for him like he thinks there is.
