Players used to take pride in playing every day and playing for the fans that pay money to see them.

It's crazy how the NBA now has to put a mandatory amount of games played to be eligible for awards.

I know this ain't a popular opinion but there's more to life than money.

I guarantee you Charles Barkley would trade all that money just for one championship ring.
Depends on the guy. You see players leave championship caliber teams every year to go play for slightly more on a bad team. They got a limited number of years to make all the money they can to set their families up, so I don’t blame em.

But yeah when you’re talking about the top of the top players, legacy becomes something you may be ok with costing yourself some money for.

Championships definitely matter to the elite guys. If not, we wouldn't have seen Kevin Durant join the Warriors. Enough has been said about the legitimacy of those rings but he's a NBA Championship regardless.

Another example is watching the elite players that try to ring chase at the end of their careers instead of still trying to get the most money possible.
