I doubt it'll ever be fixed, it's their system. It's how the RIAA has operated more or less since day 1.

Fred.
They could easily fix the inaccuracy of the date part. If Kanye and Nicki can cause change in today's music industry. I don't see why any other powerful artist can't.

Depends on who u ask:manny:
It sounds like it, both didn't give a fukk what was hot. Just came thru to do their thing. Mad influential, loved by purists but neither got that recognition thru sales

G Rap never blew cause he was so hardcore its not like he was making pop hits and they just flopped or something....people would take what he did commercialize it and blow the fukk up BBD is the most well known but there were many others

As dope as the early 90s were emcees were biting like crazy

Tragedy is another rapper who should have sold more he was 'illmatic' in 88'

"They gone bite this just like they bit its a demo"

....2 years later

G Rap has stated he's gotten paid handsomely off the royalties off this :blessed:

Technically, this is his HIT :obama:

I know you mean, the date should be when it actually shipped that amount....but the RIAA has certs dating back to the 60's....they'd have to re-do thousands of dates. From their point of view, it's just not worth it.

The only reason they'd change is if it was profitable....which is why they changed their entire auditing system for streaming. Now half the songs or albums out get some kind of certification, which they are paid for.

Rap fans (especially ones that wasn't even into rap, quoting certification dates from back then) just need to stop referencing the RIAA as some kind of infallible source of info. It's not, by a long shot.

Cause he was too real. He didn't kiss ass and I'm sure label heads feared the shyt out of him and Polo. He wasn't trying to be a "rapper" he was just really nice at rapping.
