They finished the movie (effects and all) over a year ago. The only reason they delayed it to 2020 is because they wanted a Summer Release instead.

December could’ve worked but they probably wanted to avoid Star Wars. I would’ve dropped it on Christmas but Disney & Warner kind of have an unwritten law to not drop blockbusters on the same day/week to hurt their bottom line.

They some cowards. People hated Last Jedi and were iffy with this Rise of Skywalker movie from the beginning. I guess they forgot that Star Wars got it's ass handed to them back in 2002 with Spider-Man (and they were two weeks apart) and Wonder Woman destroyed Transformers in 2017.
