Donovan left, but his back to back National Championships during the Roy Era was impressive. But you don't want to talk about blowing 26 point leads to Georgetown with his best UNC team? You don't want to talk about missing the tournament? You don't want to talk about losing more close games than winning? You don't want to talk about the lack of in game tactical adjustments? You don't want to talk about him wearing that damn Jayhawk Turtleneck after losing to them in the tournament? You don't want to talk about his odd personnel rotation against Indiana and Kentucky?

Roy hasn't won a National Championship in what will be 8 years and our recruiting isn't what it was, but let's just live in the past and pretend like a HOF coach can't do wrong, that the ACC isn't the most competitive basketball league in college, that we shouldn't adapt, or we can't criticize him for being a poor in game coach.


Talking about impressive coaching feats, when has Roy ever made a national championship run with that came down to his coaching ability like we saw from Ollie or Izzo?

I don't think Roy is a bad coach but I think he should switch things up more. When I see Seventh Woods play I don't see a PG at all. Idk why he wants him to be one so much.

The game was fantastic. So was the National Championship.

But I'm not a neutral so I prefer we win those games.

Roy's a fantastic coach, but we can all agree that he sometimes struggles with in game management in big games. Especially in regard to his lack of timeout usage during runs or end of game situations.

That's not hating. I can appreciate Roy for all he's done without being a Stan.

Oh I agree....but every coach have head scratching moments. I only went down this rabbit hole cause someone had the audacity to say "Roy ass need to go". That's where I'm lost at.

incredible game tho. probably the game of the year and we came up a bit short. not worried. we'll be there in march

since 2009, in games decided by 6 or fewer, unc is 26-26 in november-february. 16-5 in same games in march/april. roy's teams always peak late.

Out of the ESPN Top 10 in the 2014 class guess who are the two guys still in the NCAA? These parents/advisors look at stuff like that. Plus the sanctions don't help either. I wonder if you'd be saying this if Roy had his best recruiting class ever and was unranked with a L at the crib to Northeastern before the New Year? Izzo isn't on Roy's level. Doesn't mean he's trash, it just means Roy is better.

it doesnt matter if roy has more or less talent than izzo, he'll beat him every time

like 2013-2014 when an average unc team won at #1 sparty

or 2009-2010 when the second worst team in school history beat top 10 sparty in chapel hill.

it isnt like he skates by them when the talent isnt equal. he destroys them (twice in 2008-2009, 2005 FF, 2008 second round)

its just a fact that roy is a much better coach than izzo
