Winning 20 games with one of the easiest schedules UNC has ever played. 11-16 Pittsburgh just walked into Chapel Hill and dominated. Team is soft and unwatchable. Damn shame where UNC basketball is these days.

Everybody knew it was gonna be Hubert. Every coach they looked at had no qualifications to be coach at UNC. That's the problem with having this illusion that you have to hire someone from UNC.

It's not going to get better next year either

One of the easiest schedule UNC has ever played? Sounds pretty hyperbolic. Roy didn't win 20 games last year with a front court that had Kessler and Sharpe. K missed the tourney last year. Tony Bennett and Leonard Hamilton are having worse seasons with the players and teams they put together. But 20 wins for the first year coach, cooking with ingredients he didn't even shop for, isn't enough for the great UNC fanbase? Man it gets embarrassing sometimes at how whiny some in the fanbase get. I'm not specifically calling you whiny, but the comments left under the UNC Basketball IG and Twitter posts are downright nasty and unwarranted. Is this team soft? Absolutely. Is this team inconsistent? Absolutely. But most of the teams in the country are. Izzo lost to Northwestern and Penn St. Duke lost to UVA and FSU. Purdue lost to Michigan.

We got a young back court, Hubert had only a few weeks to plug holes in the paint with Sharpe and Kessler leaving PLUS recruit HIS first class. It's a challenge for anybody. I'm starting to wonder why everyone is so comfortable with publicly giving Hubert a short leash tho...:jbhmm:

Hubert been around for 10 years. He recruits and recruited some of the guys on this team. He's gonna have time to get "his ingredients" but you see the coaching staff he put together right? What makes you think his recruiting decisions will be any better?

It is well known that Roy did all the offering. Yeah Hubert recruited but these aren't the pieces to HIS puzzle. Look at the point guards he's landed. Seth and Simeon are legit point guards and none of that combo stuff Roy recruited to the position his final three cycles. And what's wrong with his staff? Team is shooting better. Mando, even though he blows way too many bunnies, has been a force in the paint. Hell, even when Hubert has been put in the position to draw up a must have play this year, he not only drew up a good shot, he got clean layup looks (Louisville: RJ had a layup but the kid made a great play for the block at the end of regulation, and Clemson at the half and end of game). There are mistakes to be made, but I'm shocked people are so confused it's happening with a first year coach.

However, the bulk of this isn't even on Hubert. MJ talked to the team and the only thing he stressed was that the coach can't have more passion than the players. When your "leaders" are enigmas and mental midgets (Mando and Love), you get the results they're getting. The highs this year are highs we haven't seen since Coby and Cam left, so you see the potential of what this thing can look like. If you look at the lows, you'll see Mando being in foul trouble, Caleb turning the ball over, top 10 shooting team all of a sudden shooting terrible (less than 30% from the field and three in the first half against Pitt), and shrinking in the moment. The good thing about all of that is those things can be corrected with better personnel or more experience. Roy won 18 games with this core and the only "good" team they beat was FSU. Too soon to be calling for Huberts head, in my opinion.

Hubert and these kids are certified stamped! It's kinda embarrassing scrolling up and watching how some of the "fanbase" crapped on this team. Wanted my man fired barely into conference play and everything. Sweetest victory outside of a National Title that I've ever been apart of as a fan in my life. Amazing.
