True. Bit Weidamn has suspect cardio so it wont be a huge disadvantage. Im more worried about his consistency and chin. He got rocked by Brunson and Kennedy. Weidman will KO him if a clean shot lands. But Weidman wont out wrestle him at all. And hes nore athletic with his striking and movement. It will be an interesting fight if it ever happened

Yoel's recovery is pretty good though. Why wouldn't Weidman use his wrestling? If Brunson can find success with TDs, Weidman sure as hell can.

I agree with you guys that the top 5 is leaps and bounds above the bottom 5... but I do think Phil Davis is young and skilled enough to eventually bridge that gap.
I don't see Bader getting better and being a contender, but I do see Davis, eventually.

I also think DC at least has the potential to beat Jones. So a Jones/DC II at some point would be okay with me... as long as he beats someone in between or in a dominant fashion.

Since coming into the UFC, Davis has barely improved and that's over a span of 13 fights. Go watch one of his early UFC fights and you'll see how little he has improved since then. I like Phil, he's seems like a cool guy, but he's never going to bridge that gap.

there's young guys coming up, there's always challengers light heavyweight has always been stacked in the UFC since the started having weight classes

plus jones can have super fights with cain and Weidman

jones is so active that's why he's cleaned out the division, he's the most active champ in UFC history, when is the last time cain even fought

Who are these young guys? Krglov? Let me know about some prospects. Because I'm looking at the 205lb roster page and its :scust: And super fights with weidman and cain are questions. Who knows if weidman is still champ? If cain is even healthy or still active? (And I still think when he does move up, his first few fights wont be against a cain/jus caliber opponent)

He looked like pure shyt in that Brunson fight. But his defense has improved. Tavares/Kennedy both couldn't get him down. We will see. Weidman just wont have a wrestling advantage like he has against Rockhold, belfort, etc

I wouldn't say he cant. Guys like Werdum and Jacare couldn't strike worth shyt. But you could see the potential and atheliticsm. They linked up with guys like Rafael cordeiro and you see the difference. Even Big Nog develop some decent boxing about 7years later into his career. I see some potential in Phil. He has decent kicks and an can throw an overhead. He just needs to dump Alliance and their habit of turning everyone into Cruz with the standup. Get with a strong kickboxing camp like blackzillians or Rogues before its too late

Weidman is easily a better wrestler than Tavares/Kennedy/Brunson though. He would have the wrestling advantage against Yoel.

I see him getting better... but I feel like he may be scared to press the fight. Him and Benson are always just scoring points everytime I see them. They have become complacent to win by decesion and its backfiring on them lately.

13 fights in a span of 5 years and he's shown minimal improvements in his game (especially his striking). I just don't see it happening at all. From what I remember, Werdum and Jacare have always been improving. Phil on the other hand..

Who knows somebody will come up they always do, gus will work his way back to a title shot, probably next year, I mean jones did beat everybody

but this time last year nobody was thinking about rumble fighting jones in a fight actually anticipated he was fighting in WSOF

He hasn't gotten noticeably better in 5 years, I don't see what changes.

I remember when he couldn't strike at all. Now he strikes more than wrestles... which is probably a bad thing for him cause his wrestling was getting him in position to submit and finish fights.
He is definately a better striker now.
