The running theme from all the reviews is that it's just a terrible script with basic acting.

The way the rape case is shown is rubbing a lot of these reviewers wrong.

Friday got terrible reviews and is now held as a classic.

I go into any movie/TV show/play/album and form my own opinion. I still like seeing other people's reviews.

I see Friday is rated 7.1/10

But i swear I heard multiple times reviewers back in the day trashed the fukk out of it before it become a cult classic.
