He did say truthfully feelings aside he felt rooster wasn’t ready yet also

Like the posters above said, it was a deathbed request he honored. Also, he legitimately didn't think Rooster was ready. He was probably right considering how long it took Rooster to re-engage during the final mission.

This was fantastic. We went to the imax earlier. The sound was great.. but Tom man.. he's just the GOAT at this. His whole demeanor and mannerisms throughout the film nobody could do it but him

Jennifer Connelly is still sexy at her advanced age... whole last 45 minutes was thrilling.. Best action movie of the year to me

Physics question. Why wasn’t Maverick dealing with G-Forces when he was in the scramjet but was in the fighter planes. He was going like Mach 10

If I'm not mistaken he had the pressure suit on in the Darkstar plane at the beginning and a regular flight suit in the F-18.

That was Meg Ryan's fault and the crazy thing is he couldn't say anything about it. Just had to take the hate from Rooster even though he did feel he wasn't ready back then as well.

Carole: 'Mav, promise me you won't let Bradley join the academy'

Maverick: 'I promise (while thinking: 'He ass anyway')

Maybe because the G-Force is due to acceleration and turning (climbing, banking) involves a change in vector and hence acceleration vector.

Going in a straight line (albeit fast) does not generate the same degree of acceleration vector change unless your speed changes (a lot).

I ain't a physicist but I watch a lot of youtube physics videos :mjlol: .

PBS spacetime :wow:

Film is great. 8.5/10 at least. Need to watch it in IMAX.

Yeah, I think that's pretty much it.
In the first case he was accelerating in a straight line. In the second case, he was pulling back hard on the stick curving back in what would be a loop if he kept going.

I think it's like the difference between being in a car accelerating really fast, and being in one of those amusement park "gravitron" or "rotor" rides that spin so fast that you stick to the walls.

Even though the car is going a lot faster, you feel more G's inside the spinning amusement park ride.

I don't think he was accelerating that fast when approaching mach 10 (in a straight line).
