The claim was it messed up television coverage.

Which is fair enough you could have so many FPs before you get someone DQ, but just doesn’t feel right this way.

What's fascinating about that.

6 VS 6, catch weight classes e.g you have a guy who competed in -100kg vs +100kg, mixed judoka sex. It was really good and exciting, even if you don’t like judo

Let's be real, nikkas is fukking up. Our water cacs held it down in the pool. But nikkas smoking weed, forgot how to flip, can barely play basketball, losing sprints to Poland, fukk going on out here.

Lowkey backlash for maga :wow:
America take this L and lose the medal count :umad:

Interesting, that might be an outlier, knew brehs that were all state and couldn’t even get on with the state university’s for scholarships. Coaches pretty much even said that you’re better off playing football and running in the summer.

Youth track for my age group as youths was pretty popular, elementary through middle school, but dropped by HS since most of us could play football by that time and has more clout. But the dynamics for girls maybe be different.

Im sure that the biggest thing (at least for guys) is the fact that there are many more scholarships available for football and basketball, and obviously more eyes on those sports. So that is what boys will be pushed toward. Even at the D-1 level, the track teams have to split 12 schollys max (18 for the girls teams). So not only does the money need to be put in at the youth level, but college as well. Also, this:
  • Income depends on event; sprints and marathons competitions pay the most.
  • About 20% of top 10 American T&F athletes make over $50K annually.
  • Less than $15K annually is what about 50% of T&F (Track and Field) athletes who rank in the top 10 in the U.S. This is from all sources: sponsorships, grants, prize money, etc.). Anyone below top 10 ranking in the USA likely has little to no income or funding from their sporting activity.
  • The top 10 runners in the world in this sport can earn $100K annually, while the top 2 can do far better.
  • Runners in the 11-25th positions range from $10K to $60K annually, either doing moderately well in a given year or poorly.
  • All other runners below these rankings tend to have other jobs.
So, even making the top of the sport, you arent making crazy money. People these days arent putting in the work to be at the top of a sport and this low money at the end of the rainbow.

Why would we? Aint no money in it except every 4 years. Then we forget these people exist unless they win the 100 and have the title of worlds fastest.
The money and games of football and hoops is in these kids face 6-8 months each every year. Track is only used as a training sport in The us to young talent.
And this is coming from somebody who sister was a SEC scholarship track athlete.

Also, Olympians dont get paid what people think they do. They only get:

So, then how do Olympians get paid?

According to the U.S. Olympic Committee, the big bucks come from the "Operation Gold" rewards which are payments to athletes that medal at the games.

Anyone taking a bite out of their gold medal in celebration gets $37,500 added to their pocket, per medal. Those who finish with a silver medal earn $22,500 and bronze medals fall in line with a $15,000 payment.

The money isnt even in winning the Gold medal. You gotta make this exposure and publicity work for you on the back end after the games. Get your appearance fees upped.

Exactly. The Phillipines woman who won a weightlifting gold medal is getting from the country: $660,000 cash, a house, a condo, and free flights for life from AsiaAir airlines. If the US (with ALOT more money) cared about its athletes, they would be seeing this love instead of $37k for a gold medal.
