I don't care about how fans feel because our view is only the American fan view. Americans rate the Olympics the pinnacle of all sports because its what we have been sold. Other nations rate consistency higher.
LOL, you're going too far here. The Olympics is the pinnacle of international sports. Only the FIFA World Cup is equal to the Olympics (but that's only one sport - soccer).

you want to talk about consistency? Olympic Basketball been around since 1936, longer than the FIBA World Championship. Every 4 years.

Meanwhile FIBA started post WW II, rebranded from 'World Championship' to 'World Cup', switched from even to uneven years and watered down the level of competetion so that countries like the Philippines can qualify. Just so that FIBA can maximize the money.

I'm glad she's been receiving all this support. If she's not mentally right, it is what it is. But the situation does raise some questions.

February 2022. Super Bowl Sunday. That morning one of the starting QB's says his mental health isn't right and he has elected not to play. Same kind of support?:patrice:

Oh so 2028

its hard because of the u23 and fifa regulations

Fifteen of the players on the senior squad were Olympic eligible. Yet thanks to FIFA regulations that limit access to players for junior events, the only contribution they could make toward the Olympic cause was to watch on a pull-down screen and hope

Football at the Summer Olympics been around since 1900, while the World Cup started in 1930. :manny:

It depends on the sport, but our views on this is USAcentric.
but who is getting the cut from the olympics? FIBA? no, the answer is the IOC
This doesn't disprove what I said.

I'll agree with @mastermind in terms of Canada and USA not caring about the FIBA though

The us finished 6th at the fiba 2019 and fielded a team that had mason plumlee, joe harris, marcus smart

The only nba players on canada's roster was cory joseph and khem birch compared to 8 who tried to get us to the olympics. The european countries had most of their players but they also as well for the olympics.

It would be a shame if the olympics do go that u23 format but its really the only way to make "FIBA" more prestigious in north america but it will probably still flop

Its reminding me of what the NHL tried to do by skipping sending NHL players to the Olympics and starting their "World cup" but no one cared about the world cup

Of course other countries care more about the FIBA World Cup compared to the US and Canada. But this doesn't mean that other countries put the FIBA World Cup over the Olympics. You can't apply soccer logic to Basketball in that regard.

You’re wrong. With respect to soccer the federations care about the World Cup, then next importance is the continental cups (copa America, Africa cup of nations, gold cup , etc ). Olympics ranks 3rd, federations do not care about it.

Well yeah They don't because off the under 23 rules, don't get a piece of the tv rights and the few teams that make it

I'd say only basketball and hockey it's the premier event

Golf, tennis no one cares
Baseball isn't even a permanent Olympic spoRt

Real talk it's easier to list the olympic sports where the Olympic Games are not the premier international event:
- Golf
- Tennis
- Football/soccer
- Baseball
- Road Cycling

for the other 30 sports it's Olympics >>>
