This is why SK is my favorite author. His ability to scare the ever living shyt out of adults and children alike are like none other. You get a chance read The Jaunt or the short story "N" .Audio/visual is below. Don't want to throw off the thread.

Thanks for posting this. It’s good to see another poster in this thread that has knowledge and appreciation for the context of a Stephen King work, not just a face value analysis or passing view; to understand how to interpret this series in the realms of horror.

I'll be honest...the fact that there were people that had a similar story, and had similar tragic events take place? The fact that my spouse had a chance encounter with someone who experienced the same shyt? Too much weird shyt is happening. I would believe the magical negro on this one lol. The Hispanic cop's whole demeanor switched when she mentioned El Cuco (I don't even like typing that shyt :merchant:) and he started working that angle. The white cop know some bullshyt is going down and denying the shyt.
The human mind always looks for the most rational, logical explanation for things.
So Holly running down her theory would have been fine if she didn't take that left turn into the supernatural because we aren't wired to just accept ideas like that.
An average person after hearing Holly explain how 3 people with no connection all were accused of the same heinous crime and had a Six Degrees of Separation situation where Accused Murderer #1 encountered Accused Murderer #2 who then had an encounter with Accused Murderer #3 might assume that there was a serial killing team who were good at disguises running around the country but not that a supernatural creature was shapeshifting to look like their loved ones.

Don’t even get me started on The Dark Tower series and how great it is (reading it again for the 3rd time). Gonna start reading The Stand again. Went and grabbed a few joints over the weekend. I’m gonna start on The Dark Half Friday. N has a lot of easter eggs to The Dark Tower and Castle Rock that's on Hulu.

This is a way more unbelievable explanation imo than the latter. There has never been a serial killer team to operate like that in the history of ever. Most serial killers operate alone or are either husband/wife, coupled up or best friends which means there are no more than 2 killers within the same vicinity. Y’all are treating this like it’s the reverse Avengers - which in this case would still give an explanation way beyond rational or human mentality explanations. How would all those people sync and plan out multiple murders of the victims and family members while waiting for said remaining family member’s bout with depression to commit suicide which happened in two of the cases with the black man’s family member and the murdered child’s father. The alleged perpetrators ( and their doppelgängers/clones) being seen by multiple witnesses at different times and different places. You cannot leave out that which explains the unforeseen part of nature - the mind control.

The Jaunt is a nightmarish scenario.
Its no wonder they commit suicide after that jaunt. You are trapped that many years with nothing but your own thoughts.

Criminal Minds does serial killer teams at least 3 times a season.:russ:

But a farfetched theory that is rooted in the "real world" would be more acceptable to people than some folklore about supernatural shapeshifting beings who feed on sadness and misery.

And no one considers the ripple effects from the murders to be anything more than tragic the reverberations left in the wake of a horrific crime. A child is murdered and one parent dies of a "broken heart", another parent attempts suicide and a sibling takes the law into his own hands resulting in his own death...those are all very easy things to accept.

I used to get tech support calls from a customer called Leroy Chang. Google seems to show that it's not even a really uncommon name.

The Asian actress' first name is Hettienne. Thought it was weird and looked for it's origin, it seems like it's made up but I would have thought it was a Haitian women's name. :ehh:
