Is this shyt dope?

Fred.
It's like Season 1 of True Detective that goes all in with the supernatural element that people were speculating when that season was happening.

It's a great mystery show that pulls in viewers from the jump. This shyt has me like...

:lupe:...:damn:

...at the end of each episode every week

I'm going back to avoiding this thread tho, because I already know the, "in the book" mofos are lurking waiting to dry spoil this piff and I won't be having any of it.

Haven't been looking forward to a show like this one for a while

I recently watched season one completely, and the knockers on the first mistress were the most magnificent breasts I’ve ever seen.

I get the True Detective comparisons, but I think the two shows are different enough. I feel the investigation in True Detective was a conduit for a character study, while I feel The Outsider is very much focused on the actual mystery/investigation. We learn some things about the main characters, but I don't think we'll be witnessing any significant character arcs.

Yeah, you're right. I was actually going to tag you in this thread when I was posting this morning.

I wouldn't be surprised if this show was shot by the same cinematographer/team as True Detective tho. The camera work and the coloring for the scenes is amazing on here and I can see some similarities between the two shows from how they look visually.

I too think the show will stand on it's own, it's just easier to get people to check it out if they haven't heard of it or seen it by referring folks back to True Detective S1.

:manny:

I agree with everything you said tho

You know me, I love slow burns. The deciding factor for this show will be the payoff. I'm not a fan of basing the quality of a show on its ending, but the resolution to the mystery seems to be the point here. As "underwhelming" as some found the resolution of True Detective Season 1 (and 3 to some extent) the evolutions of Rust, Marty, and Wayne were powerful; more than enough to cap off compelling seasons of television. The Book of Nora (The Leftovers finale) struck me deeply despite not truly answering the most pertinent questions. shyt, Watchmen's finale felt a bit pandering to me, but the two previous episodes did so much that I still hold the season in ultimate esteem. The Outsider's ending will have to make, what has at times bordered on tedious watching, everything worthwhile.

I felt season 1 of True Detective's ending was very good. That last episode was piff. It didn't necessarily pay off all the angles we had discussed but I felt in many ways it could be interpreted that our suspicions were accurate.

Anyway back to The Outsider.. this is a new genre to me. I might be forgetting something but I don't remember a true mystery/police procedural with all the details of said police work combining with supernatural elements of a horror/Stephen King story..

That's why I feel this is so piff. It's raw, the direction and acting is great and it feels fresh... HBO did it again :wow:
