That’s the point.Outside of the machine city/IO this didn’t look or feel like a matrix film. Where is the style? The flair? The green hue? The fight scenes were nothing special. The fights felt nothing like it did in other matrix films. Why?
this was a weird watch. I’ll check out the breakdowns because it is an interesting movie. It isn’t terrible. I’m just confused by what this movie is because it didn’t give me Matrix.
That’s the point.
The movie is a direct rejection of what came before it while engaging with the nostalgia for the movie. It’s a modern day gremlins 2 in that it subverts everything about original, plays on the audiences expectations, wrestles with the corprotate requirements, and the creator saying “this is what this means to me. Your feelings be damned.”
The whole flick doesn’t work for me but I do very much fukk with that angle and approach.
She’s not the first one to do that lol. Joe dante did it, Coppola did it, Lucas did it.fukking Lana….smh
One has to wonder if she was a man would there be so much vitriol towards the film or would she be given the freedom to be creativefukking Lana….smh
She did what she wanted to do because WB was going to do it anyway. I ain’t mad at her I would’ve did the same shyt if I were her.One has to wonder if she was a man would there be so much vitriol towards the film or would she be given the freedom to be creative

It doesn’t always work for me but I love when a creator bucks the idea that the creation belongs to the fans once it’s out in the world and they make the rules. It’s controversial yeah but it’s better than playing it safe. Safe is how we get JJ Abrams
