Outside of the machine city/IO this didn’t look or feel like a matrix film. Where is the style? The flair? The green hue? The fight scenes were nothing special. The fights felt nothing like it did in other matrix films. Why?

this was a weird watch. I’ll check out the breakdowns because it is an interesting movie. It isn’t terrible. I’m just confused by what this movie is because it didn’t give me Matrix.
That’s the point.
The movie is a direct rejection of what came before it while engaging with the nostalgia for the movie. It’s a modern day gremlins 2 in that it subverts everything about original, plays on the audiences expectations, wrestles with the corprotate requirements, and the creator saying “this is what this means to me. Your feelings be damned.”

The whole flick doesn’t work for me but I do very much fukk with that angle and approach.

She’s not the first one to do that lol. Joe dante did it, Coppola did it, Lucas did it.

It doesn’t always work for me but I love when a creator bucks the idea that the creation belongs to the fans once it’s out in the world and they make the rules. It’s controversial yeah but it’s better than playing it safe. Safe is how we get JJ Abrams :hubie:

One has to wonder if she was a man would there be so much vitriol towards the film :sas1: or would she be given the freedom to be creative :sas2:
She did what she wanted to do because WB was going to do it anyway. I ain’t mad at her :manny: I would’ve did the same shyt if I were her.

Oh and to answer your question, of course not.

And Spiderman: No Way Home. And the last Star Wars movie.

Resurrections will ultimately have a cult following. No doubt in my mind about that.

40 minutes in and I feel like they're pulling a Star Wars. Just remixing the original movie. Hopefully it gets better.

I think this movie was missing the other wachowski, maybe that's why this film felt off to aot of people...:francis: just an idea. To me this movie was ok but it was missing that sense of darkness the original had. You also can't please everyone. Also just wanted to add there was alot of dope ideas that deserved to be fleshed out and was touched upon like the machine civil war. :ohhh: what happened to the arctecht. Why didn't they released the humans as promised?!. Just alot of good shyt not answered in depth

I understand why people aren’t feeling this.

I loved it though.

It basically took the Rian Johnson Last Jedi approach of acknowledging where these characters are in pop culture then using that to deconstruct. Last Jedi tried doing it in the confines of Star Wars canon.

This movie was completely coming at it from a fourth wall perspective

Loved that the final confrontation was basically a troll farm.
