The more I thought about it, I’m in the same boat with you on the flick. I don’t love it. I love the ideas and themes but don’t think lana hit the mark executuon wise. The meta commentary works on the surface but it’s just surface level commentary. Go deeper. I love that it subverts expectations and takes wild swings, but that also causes it to feel a bit inert at times.It takes a lot for me to truly dislike a movie
And while a love story is clearly at the heart of the original trilogy as it informs pretty much every decision neo makes, their relationship always felt so cold and distant to me so making it the crux of this movie is a miss for me.
I like it better than revolutions and I’m going to think about it for a while.
Thematically, the way it clashes against commercial moviemaking, it works well with Speed Racer, which I fukking adore. But unlike speed racer, I don’t feel the need to revisit this but it will stay on my mind.

In the beginning when the matrix trilogy video game developers were talking about how they were forced to do a new video game because Warner bros were making them do it, I felt this movies writers of this movie were basically telling the audience they didn't even want to make this stupid ass movie

That's exactly what I felt when I saw that scene. It's called saying the quiet part out loud.
Is it that divisive? Some people think it's trash other people say it's better than expected (trash). Don't think anyone thinks this is actually a good movie
Plenty of reviews say it is. I read some after I watched it just for some shyt to read. Some of them really love it. Some don’t. But a critic said early on that this would be a divisive movie, much like most of the Wachowski’s later stuff.

Obviously it's not a new word. But I been hearing that word more in the past couple of weeks than I ever have in my entire life.
Probably because most of our entertainment now is about entertainment itself. We’ve gone in a circle. Matrix is about the matrix. Spider-Man is about 20 years of Spider-Man. Cobra Kai is about the karate kid movies. Stranger things is about the movies and tv and books of the 80s. Everything is a commentary on something or itself now. Oh and ghostbusters.
Studios want franchises and $$ IP so the creators are doing the best they can to make something of it. And a lot of times they comment on that reality
blame facebook's name change...probably the most likely reason why.
