HBO Max here we come...
I'm still not hyped about a prequel, but I just hate the entire concept of prequels in modern film/tv/etc. It's more often than not a corny cash grab or a surrender to a nerd culture that demands to know everything about everything. When I was a kid and saw Boba Fett, I thought he was a badass and wanted to see more of him...but I was not thinking "oh wow I need to know his real name, what planet he was born on, his first love, his children..." I just wanted to see him do cool shyt.
The Sopranos is six seasons of deconstructing the mobster. By the end we know who these people are, how they speak, how they think, their insecurities, their anger issues, their parental issues, etc. I'm not sure what a feature film took into Tony's teen years is going to tell us that we don't know. David Chase is a great writer so I want to see what he's come up with but man...I wish he would have just done something new on Netflix or HBO...
