Exactly. That was my problem with Zodiac. Fincher is a legend in his own right and the movie is great but I watch it for near three hours and there's no real conclusion.
I think it may have been to showcase how Jake's character changed when he let his boy get murked just to get that exclusive footage. I'm no movie savant but that's what I remember most :yeshrug:

2:20 in. it's fine, but there's no magic here. anyone that thinks this is even better than Casino is nuts. The cg is distracting, Pacino is just playing Pacino, Pesci is sleepwalking, and it feels like someone doing a Scorsese impression.

Spot on. Also, why are they Irish with New York, Italian accents. It was throwing me off. They should've CGI'd natural Bostonians like Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon for the main roles, the whole departed cast.

I love Casino, & it's my favorite Scorsese. But it irks the hell out of me even today, that DeNiro didnt even bother changing his accent, when Pesci did. I'm no expert on the Italian Chicago accent, but Pesci tried, & the NY accent is hard to mask when they're as thick as the ones they all have. DeNiro did ok for the Southern accent in Cape Fear, but in Casino he didnt even bother with it. Other than Scarface, Pacino doesnt have a role I can remember where he just completely transformed himself into someone else.

DeNiro didnt even sound Philly. I heard Pesci trying again to get a Midwest accent going on for this.

De Niro is at least part Irish, but i look at dude as basically THE Italian. always have. it's engrained in me. so i found it distracting from jump. i don't know. i finished it. thought his best acting was as a fading old man at the end. it was good, but it's gonna fade from my memory like a fart in the wind. i'll give it a generous 3.5/5

This was good but flawed. It didn’t have the level of humor I thought it should have. The aging cgi was distracting yet impressive at times. Pacino was really good as Hoffa and I liked everybody loves Raymond homeboy as the lawyer

Seeing “The Irishman” inspired me to look up mob figures, binge the tell all books n watch the movies

:ohhh:

It’s amazing n frightening how a secret (well not so secret society nowadays) society of men got together n created a criminal organization that wielded so much power.

Why ya say this da end of the mob movie genre?!

:what:

Hopefully it’ll reinvigorate the genre.

It’s PLENTY of mob stories to tell.

I personally been starving for a Nicky Scarfo mob movie.

His whole story is

:damn:

Or they could do one on “Gas Pipe Casso”

Da possibilities are endless

:blessed:

There will always be mob movies, like there were Westerns. But like hood films, they're a product of a time. The actors & directors were close to the art they were reproducing. You cant duplicate that anymore. Narcos as a series is so good for this reason. These NY raised Italian actors,

I wouldnt mind another mafia story to be told, but he pandered to having DeNiro & Pacino on screen one last time. Leo could've played the hell out of this role too, the film would've been better imo. If he has one more in him, he shouldn't go back to the old guys.
