Why isn't hoffa remembered nowadays? Everyone knew him in the 50 and 60'sI understand being lost or put off if you don’t know anything about Hoffa.
But if you’re from a union household/from the Midwest (Detroit especially) or any other heavy unionized area you understand the power that man and that union had
this movie assumes that it’s audience is coming in with high level of general knowledge of Hoffa and Kennedy era politics.Which is good assumption to make because more likely than not the people who are checking for this are older/interested in that kind of thing. He wasn’t shooting for the Birdbox demographic
As a person who falls into the category of knowing the history of this I appreciate the lack of handholding the movie did ...if you’re coming in ignorant of this kind of shyt you might get left behind ....but ultimately that’s your fault
Yeah I am pretty disappointed with this movie. Just dull as hell. The story is just not very compelling and just goes on and on. U said it the screenplay is weak sauce.Well directed but the story was lacking. I know its only so much u can do with a true story but I feel like this movie is missing a lot. It didn't grab my attention and make me care about the characters and there world like good fellas and casino. The actors all looking and sounding 95 years old cgi/no cgi don't help either. I felt like scorsese being the director was what kept me engaged not the story. Great acting, good directing but a lackluster story and screenplay I give it a 6.5/10 ... Wall street shyts on this movie from a pure joy and entertainment aspect alone. The Irishman felt like I was doing scorsese a favor by watching. Reminds me of having to watch shutter island and kundun.
