it was a Sopranos/Boardwalk cast reunion :wow: but seriously, this was a great film and sendoff to these actors and these kind of films :wow:

I couldn't help but fill this was in a way a sequel and prequel to Casino. The same kind of finality but on a much more depressing note here :mjcry: Also, it's pretty crazy that at his age, Scorsese still directs this well. The CGI is jarring especially when it first makes its appearance :picard: had De Niro looking like a Mafia 2 character :russ: also when I read the Peggy actress was bad, I didn't pay it much attention but when I saw her for the first time, I knew yall were right. I caught her in The Affair and she's bad there too :francis: Now because of this I wanna go back & rewatch Godfather 2 :blessed:

This one is not for everyone. I enjoyed it, but if someone says they didn't like it, I can see why.

Im a bit of a history buff, so some of the shyt they showed was cool to me.

But, the biggest thing is:

You don't have a decent understand of who Jimmy Hoffa was and the power he had, I can easily see you not enjoying this flick. Its like they went into this movie expecting viewers to have a deep understanding of who he was. This movie could easily be called, The Jimmy Hoffa story told thru the eyes of The Irishman. Almost like that coward that killed Jessie James movie.

I just don't think they did enough to show the influence ole dude actually had.

Movie was good/entertaining the whole way through. The de-aging was distracting for a little but I got used to it and as the characters get older it’s fine. The acting is amazing all the way through, the main 3 all deserve Oscar nominations in my humble opinion and like I said while it’s entertaining the entire time and the 3.5 hours flies by that last half hour is just amazing...fukking sad and scary kind of. Scorsese is fukking amazing.

Great film.

gonna need a film where Pacino & Stephen Graham yell and cuss at each other the whole time :russ:

but Pesci really is the unsung hero here. He was menacing while being low key and his acting when they were real old and in prison :wow:
All of their scenes together were classic..

I was a bit skeptical about the 3.5hr runtime but it was a smooth ride. At first I was sympathetic for Jimmy Hoffa, he had his issues and was self serving and power hungry but he got down for his union and cared about the members and they're pension fund.

Unfortunately
once he got on the phone with Sheeran and spoke about painting houses, it was only a matter of time.
Hoffa didn't have the flex or the political savvy to maneuver against the government. Due to his ties (the mob) and recklessness (his arrogance) his downfall was imminent.

All in all I thought the movie was a slow burn that did a good job of telling the truth about unions and the mob and the power it wielded against the government and status quo. As others said this isn't flashy as casino and goodfellas but I am glad at the way scorcese chose to depict all the players toward the end of the movie.
the scene where the nurse didn't know who hoffa was and everyone involved died or went to prison

The acting was suburb especially Joe pesci. Scorcese still has it. I also loved the way people were getting popped
When Sally Buggs got popped outside the social club :banderas:

7.5 definitely reccomend
