The build up of Hoffa vs. The Mob was the highlight of the film for me...the tension builds and builds and builds...

This. The movie takes a while to get there - and it got a bit unfocused with the union stuff - but once this part of the story starts it really gets great. Some of my favourite work ever in a Scorsese movie.

The scene where Joe Pesci is warning Pacino then followed by De Niro warning Pacino was amazing. Watching these guys play off each other so perfectly. Then followed by 1 hour of just pure tension :wow::whoo:

This movie cost $160mil to make :mindblown:

No wonder all the studios passed. I don't see how this movie can be bad with this material. It makes sense now why Franzese made it seem like they'll never find Hoffa. Apparently they cremated him according to The Irishman. Incredible.

Studios dumb as fukk this would have had at least doubled back it’s money

A three and a half hour movie at a $160 million budget? Nah, son. That cost is enormous for a genre film with little to no female appeal (how many women you know line up for Goodfellas or The Godfather?) and a length that seriously limits the amount of screenings per day. For the record, I think studios are dumb as fukk but you honestly can't blame them for not betting on this film.

don't think it's anyone in here (at least most posters) but more so the general public. Most people can't sit and be still for an hour let alone 3.5 hours :francis:

me tho, I love a properly built film/show no matter how long & I can't wait for this :wow:
