They absolutely did. It's in one of the Ty and that Guy podcast episodes. They wanted to swag him up and Prince name came up.

Losing Alex definitely fukked up the chemistry for me too at the start of the season.

They're tired and exhausted in the story. They joined the war against Space Prince's free navy so they've been in the fight a long time, and Earth has been losing.

If you look at Holden, he's looking more stressed and gaunt than usual. Naomi is a few steps away from a nervous breakdown.

Even Amos is going through it.

The only happy person on the ship is Peaches, and she just happy to be out of jail

Space Prince is winning. He got everybody on the ropes.
