My takeaway is that Homelander really didn't want to hurt her in that moment. He kept telling her he had bigger fish to fry. His attention was on Soldier Boy. And because of that, she got the drop on him and started lumping him up because he was holding back only because he was distracted. You can tell when he got serious. When he let them eye lasers fly, that's when he's serious. But he wasn't expecting her to have a counter to that and she kept getting in close enough to hurt him.

If he had truly been fighting her from jump, there's no way she would have been able to do the damage she did.
They also built up all season that she stopped drinking and getting high and was training for months and months for the sole purpose of taking on Homelander. It's not like she was over powering him in the fight, she was just more skilled and better prepared. The way she smiled when she started doing damage seemed to me like they were showing she was happy the training paid off. Made sense to me. :yeshrug:

kimiko survived the blast so why couldn’t she? The actress is leaving the show, so this was the way to writer her off. She lost her powers which is the main point of the blast

already addressed this.

her surviving the nuke makes sense…kimiko also did at damn near point blank range…what doesn’t make sense is her surviving that fall since she had to be immediately de-powered midair when the blast occurred

Dude is great comedy relief, they did good on keeping him.

I don't disagree with him being funny but he legit hasn't had an arc in 2 seasons.

They wrote the entire church subplot for him....then never mentioned it again.

This season his entire arc was "I'm having relationship issues".

It's just not interesting to me in the context of everything else going on.

I had similar issues with A-Train for most of last season but they killed it with him this season. The Deep is still just kinda....there.
