He's holding him on his feet with his other arm. You're that one guy that come into a thread that nobody agrees with so you just begin doubling down more and more :mjlol:

Oh, one other thing I really liked. They acknowledged just how weird it is for a dude dressed in a bat suit to be walking around a crime scene interacting with people. I actually love how all the cops are like " :dahell: is he doing here?" whenever Gordon brings him around.

I really don't understand the discontent with the arena scene that so many people have. It felt necessary to me for several reasons. It was the Riddler's grand finale, he was building up to something. In that way too it felt like such a comic book scene. It was also important that Batman saw how widespread and damaging his image was. He was evoking not just the Riddler but many others to be violent in the name of vengeance. It also gave him a chance to transcend past vengeance and help those who vulnerable in another way. I also love how it brought out the true character of others like the new mayor and catwoman. I think that helped Bruce too. To see there was still hope and care that hadn't been tainted. Ha, I guess I liked this part more than I realized. His ending monologue about becoming something more wouldn't have hit as hard or true without him going through that crisis.
The arena scene doesn’t work cause it turns Riddler from a targeted villain to a mass murder. It’s one thing if he was killing the new mayor but that wouldn’t require a team of assassins and flooding an entire city.

Was he just a mass murder the whole time masquerading as getting back at the corruption? Maybe. But then if he was the mass murder then just burn down the club and shoot everyone as they came out and the police.

It felt like the natural end was as the club. Riddler, Catwoman, and Batman were all there. Just have the “I’m vengeance” come from Riddler himself.

Also

Did anyone else wish Falcone was telling the truth about Thomas Wayne? IDK, I just thought it would've been more interesting if Bruce found out that his father really wasn't as perfect as he thought he was and had to struggle to still be a symbol of hope and not lose his ideals in spite of that. Don't get me wrong, the hospital scene with Alfred defending Thomas Wayne's honor was powerful but it also felt like a bit of a cop out.

i mean..

he try to pay the reporter off and had a mob dude go scare him. That's not exactly a saint. Blood on Thomas Wayne's hands

Couple of days later and I guess the best way I can describe this is my favorite portrayal of Batman, but probably middle of the list for Batman movies.

I couldn't imagine being a cop and having this freak escorted around crime scenes in real life :laff:

It's weird. I thought it was a great sequence on its own. But to me it was so tonally different than what we got before with this tight, film noir detective story, that it was kind of jarring to see this huge action setpiece. With the Dark Knight, the entire movie was this gradual buildup of tension and escalation so the big moments in the 3rd act felt earned and connected. I didn't quite get that with the Batman.
Exactly. Joker was attacking everyone. His war escalated from one side of the mob to the mob itself to the cops to the citizens. His final trump card was getting at Batman through Dent.

No... because...

All of the politicians are there... heavy police presence. The Riddler wanted CHANGE in Gotham. That's how to do it by eliminating everyone at that event

The rest of the people there are just collateral damage.. :yeshrug:

I didn't realize this was nearly three hours long until I read some comments in here. The movie flew by for me. I love the gritty, film noir-esque route this film took.

I'll have to watch The Dark Knight again but The Batman is my new number one Batman movie.

fukk if this was my favorite Batman and from the announcement I resisted, I want my Batfleck movie I thought Pattinson would be a horrible Batman. I was wrong as hell, I told my buddy it’s like they took the source material and put it in a movie instead of making a movie and inserting Batman, he might not be my favorite Bruce, but he was a great Batman. It felt like I was watching the no nonsense Arkham series/ Comic Batman, everything dead pan no emotion..fights were great, I thought he wouldn’t be intermediating enough, I got proved wrong on the first fight. Riddler, Selina, and Gordon were all great, Penguin stole the show for me. I felt it ran long but not sure what I would cut so with that 9/10. Definitely looking forward to where they take this Batman.

That doesn’t wash. He lets the actual mob laundering the money and corrupting the city go to attack politicians who (at least one) was actually trying to do something good?

He was willing to kill Bruce because of his father but let’s Falcone’s right hand man Penguin live?

And again, those collateral damage citizens, were the people hurt by the people he was unmasking.

He stopped targeting in favor of just random killing.

He’s not changing anything except the population count.

Shoot up the club kills almost everyone the arena does. Plus you don’t have to have Catwoman randomly show up cause she’s connected to the club and already there.

I think he only cared about people that directly involved or could be responsible for his type of upbringing. He went for Bruce because Thomas was already dead, he went for Falconi because he was involved from the start, Penguin was a worker.
