Loosely connected. Basically the movies are doing their own thing without being overly connected to a wider universe but if they were to ever do another Justice League movie then they have all the pieces. If they don't do another Justice League movie then it won't have any effect on the individual films. Plus this film takes place during Bruce's first couple of years as Batman so it's before Man of Steel.
in other words, they are doing a soft reboot of the universe and if they stop sucking then they'll do it the right way this time

im fine with pattinson. more interested in his ability to play an intimidating batman, im sure whatever way he portrays bruce wayne will be fine

I thought Cillian Murphy was good in that clip if I had to judge between him and Bale in that audition...
I'd go with the former only issue is his physique doesn't tell me here is a man who has trained his body to the limits.

Also Keaton. A lot of us are too young to know or remember, but fans hated his casting. Cats wrote into WSJ to protest his casting. Thought it would be a big screen version of the 60s show. How can you cast Mr mom and beetlejuice as batman?

It was, Batman isn't a receding, thinning hair guy with a dad bod. Plus he was too short to play Batman. AFAIC it was the 60s version esp. with the campy director. Only worse was George Clooney.:yeshrug:

Yea I thought Murphy was great in that. Just looks frail though. Then again Hugh Jackman was thin in the first X-Men movie and we saw how that turned out for him and future films.

Maybe the Keaton vibes is why he didn't get the role. That and "Batman Begins Bale" was excellent.

Man Bale showed a lot of great promise in Begins and it just went downhill from there.

What didn't you like about his performance in Dark Knight?
His Batman had no presence on screen, doesn't showcase any of the characters traits be it his intellect or martial arts ability, Bale playing Batman was a guy in a rubber suit yelling and grunting and it looked ridiculous and he got outperformed by his counterparts in both the sequel and Dark Knight Rises.

Maybe that has more to do with Nolan's direction... But it was a regression none the less. :yeshrug:

I can see that. I think you’re right about the direction tho. He seemed to play him as a guy who was just at his wits end and was tired of the bullshyt. I believe that’s purposeful though. Batman begins he was full of vigor and couldn’t wait to start the mission. Seemingly in between films, that shyt started to weigh on him. And with fighting a different threat in joker, one he couldn’t use his martial arts skills on and one who had real stakes for the city, the performance should be different.

It’s a much more quieter and thoughtful performance in dark knight than Batman begins and I think it comes down to preference. It’s like Daniel Craig in casino royale vs skyfall. Same character but at different stages of life and completely different stakes. I prefer casino royale but I don’t think what’s he did in skyfall is bad at all.
