im not gone front, this movie confused the fukk outta me

Just finished

I understand the premise and what was going on there just some parts where I wondered how we got here lol

I need to see it again but with closed captions to fully grasp it.. I have to watch everything this way

Yeah after a certain point I stopped trying to understand it and just tried to enjoy it for what it was. The person I went with understood it better than I did so they were able to clear up some of my confusion.

I think this movie was intentionally designed for you to watch it multiple times.

Did you see it in an IMAX screening? If so, I suggest to watch it on a regular screening. You wouldn't need close captions to understand what's said.
I saw it in a fake IMAX lol

It wasn't so much the sound it's honestly just the way I comprehend things.. I read better than I listen, I'm just remedial that way:russ:

Near the beginning I heard the lady say not to try to figure it out and knew the shyt was gonna be crazy lol

The actual time travel, isolated time events or whatever you'd call it I understand that..

It kinda messed me up the way the movie connected everything

At first the protagonist was told about a Russian arms dealer, then somehow the way in was through his wife. Then getting to the wife was possible through a painting which was being held over her as some sort of guilt to keep her from leaving the husband? But the painting was a fake lol

I just need to see it again:russ:

Nolan outright told you not to understand it, feel it.

Out of all the science fiction, especially regarding time traveling....we don't process the logic. We never questioned the scientific logic of Back to the Future, for example...but want to overthink this. When the simplest explanation is
forward time and inverted time are synced simultaneously. They coexist while being parallel at the same time. Don't try to overthink. Just accept it as with ANY science fiction film.
That is such a cheap excuse. I don't give any film a pass for breaking internal rules. If Nolan wanted more 'free format' sci-fi he shouldn't have a bunch of characters lay down exact scientific rules.

But he didn't. The movie literally tells you not to understand it. So there's no exact scientific rules, because even they do not fully understand. You'll just drop deep into a rabbit hole trying to make logic.

I'm seeing a lot of people saying this film needed more exposition. Yet so many of you hated it inception for that. Is it ooochie wally wally or is it one mic? :jbhmm:
It really didn't need more exposition, most people just suck at conceptual thinking. What this film did need was less plot clutter especially in the first half.

But he didn't. The movie literally tells you not to understand it. So there's no exact scientific rules, because even they do not fully understand. You'll just drop deep into a rabbit hole trying to make logic.
Let any other filmmaker say 'try not to understand it' and see if they would get away with it. Just because he opens with the excuse doesn't mean it's fine.

Waiting for @MartyMcFly to trash it tonight :blessed:
Meh. I’ve realized Nolan just doesn’t make movies I’m into anymore. This movie had all the stuff I do like about him (big action, big ideas, memorable action scenes and practical stunts) but also the stuff I don’t like about him (character? Who cares?! Exposition dialogue out the ass, and people I just don’t care about, and detachment) and he’s just not for me anymore.

He’s so wrapped up in the ideas of his movies and that initial premise that the characters are just pawns on the chessboard in service of that idea rather than figuring out how they can work in concert and servicing both. Understanding the movie wasn’t a problem for me, and yes I know he made the movie to be viewed multiple times, but I didn’t struggle with any of that. I just didn’t give a damn about anyone on screen minus a few moments here and there.

Big ole pile of meh

@MartyMcFly

You love Bond with such passion, I thought you would love this exercise in the genre, it's really just a Bond movie, with some time travel. As purely an exercise in style, I loved those parts of it. The tenders and yachts, the music, the airport scenes. I loved the rising action. The interplay between villain and the Bond character.
