There wasn't, but if there was it wouldn't be true to her character. Shiv isn’t hateful or spiteful, she's just SUPER impulsive. She's always changed her mind on a dime, it’s why she has no friends and can't be in a loving relationship. She's always searching for the "what else".

When it comes to her turn to vote, she decides there and then she can't pull the trigger for Kendall. But she doesn’t know exactly why so she goes thru a rolodex of reasons on the spot: Kendall's too self-centered, he's not capable, he killed a guy, she finds him annoying.

Kendall is a spineless, bytchmade fukk, so he can't help but implode (his dialogue devolves so quickly during the scene, the writing is just top notch) until he practically guides Shiv (and Roman) to the inevitable total collapse.
I really love this take. Haven’t really seen it anywhere else. Dap plus Rep

Shiv chose her stoic grindset husband over her bipolar cokehead brother. It was the best decision for literally everyone not named Kendall.

Ken is my favorite character on the show but to me he is a Chris Moltisanti type where watching him pile up Ls is the whole appeal :heh:I don’t understand viewers who think he is at all competent or deserving. He is perpetually one nudge away from a mental breakdown or drug binge. The only thing Kendall has going for him is that Roman exists and makes him look slightly better in comparison.

This was an A+ finale for me. Matsson, Tom, and Greg are savages but at least there is a practical and tangible reason to pursue great wealth. Money has no meaning to the living Roys, they are only motivated by entitlement and family rivalry. None of them are fit to run a single Popeyes location so I’m smoking the whole Roy pack. Top 10 show of all time.
He was the most competent of the three siblings. Tom is the better pick but not even by that much from everything we’ve seen in this show. (The bar is literally in hell but Ken was top dog).

Any arguments against this being top 3 ATG with the wire and sopranos?

They landed the ending. I was jittery as fukk the whole episode from the point Maddsen was looking at Shiv sideways in his penthouse.

The wire is more relatable for me, but the last couple of seasons were rushed. And the politics/mcnulty/newspaper storylines got weak.
I got this better than Sopranos and third behind The Wire and Mad Men respectively.

I think we do something with tv shows that we don’t do anywhere else like sports for example when ranking things, we give way too much weight to being first. We recognize that MJ was influenced by Dr. j but we don’t put him above MJ because we know MJ took the ball further. Sopranos laid the blueprint for all these shows. But some of them did it better imo. I think if Chase were to create Sopranos now, he’d probably make a much more concise story in like 5 seasons. He’d probably also fill the supporting cast with better actors and lean into performance.

i thought the ending was fitting for the family. their personality was really highlighted in that scene in the meeting room.

-shiv being manipulative and going behind her brother's back to strike a deal with tom. tom asking hugo where caroline is wasn't a coincident. i bet shiv met with tom to talk about her voting yes and how that would look moving forward.
-roman being unable to rise to the occasion. you can tell he never cared for the business and only did the business stuff for his dad's approval.
-kendall always fumbling at the goal line. he is always close but can never stick the landing.

logan's plan to sell the company still went through even in death :wow:

tom and greg the GOAT of this corporate world.

I have seen this type of stuff happening in the Corp World... "Safe" dudes like Tom always make it to the top :stopitslime:

Exactly. Kendall isn't anymore flawed than anyone else on that show. There was no 'right' choice.

The finale fallout turned into a pile on Kendall fest because it's always funny to see Lucy snatch the football just as Charlie Brown is about to kick it.

Your right but at the end of day the tom is a good puppet /empty suit that will do what madsen want him to do and wont try to pull off any kind of Machiavelli type stunt to gain power over the company hell that why he hit shiv with the :mjpls: with making her the America ceo.

Nah I disagree Kendall was a piece of shyt and besides a few glimpses he’s not capable of being great as ceo either
Plus him with this “he promised me when I was 7” shyt definitely got annoying for Roman and shiv. None of them deserved shyt. That’s why Roman calling them bullshyt resonated to me. They were all nepo babies. They all would be rich forever with or without waystar thanks to their dad who in the end himself didn’t even know who he wanted

Shiv is the unadulterated embodiment of CaC women privilege. Just don't want to be spoiled rich silver-

spoon airheards. They want to meddle in affairs that's out of their livelihood. If they don't get their rotten way, they

torpedo everything and everybody (including their insipid self-interest) in sight and care less where the shrapnel falls as long they still have a smidgen of standing room left. Pathetic cave devil specimen.:hhh::pacspit:
And she was woefully under qualified the entire time.

Kendall showed more than a few glimpses. The only person who got the upper hand on him in any business sense the entire series was his father and his only failure was his inability to ever get his siblings behind him, which his father made impossible by always dangling the stick.

Even Logan didn't deserve it, as in he had his faults and was a crazy tyrant
He just had it

All the kings (elites) are wearing no clothes
Even Mattson who won
Creepy blood guy faking his numbers
Logan didn’t deserve it if you make it about character and not about being able to run the company. He built it into a mega empire. He clearly deserved it in that sense. It just shouldn’t exist at all.

tom isn't the better pick. he's just a lapdog. typical middle manager who brownoses his way up the corporate ladder without much substance.
