When Tom walked in he asked where Karolina was. This is hinting that Shiv had already talked to Tom BEFORE she even showed up for the board meeting.

hugo was a weasel since he first came on the scene. he been gunning at karolina the entire time. mind you, she technically has been his boss the ENTIRE series. hugo was PR just for the cruise division, and Karolina is PR for the entire waystar royco corporation.

Gil fired her, she settled in marriage, Logan backtracked on her as replacement, her brothers backed out of the Pearce buyout, Tom usurped her as Lukas' CEO. And now she's pregnant with a kid she never wanted, destined to become her Mother.
